Title: F1 teams have beaten Mosley
Post by: albitz on 24 June 2009, 13:48:57
It has been announced that there will be no breakaway series next year and Mosley will not stand for re-election later this year.
It was always really about who holds the balance of power and the teams(possibly with Ron Dennis orchestrating things behind the scenes)forcing Mosley out.The FIA (and probably Ecclestone) have blinked first.

Nobody has won, and nobody has lost.

It was all just a stupid childish teddy throwing session from the big teams, and if anyone has won, it's the FIA.

It's a shame Max is going, even though he's had a lot of criticism, he's done a fookin good job. Remember, he's not just the boss of F1, the FIA has a much bigger umbrella than F1: WTCC, WRC, GT, GT3, Formula 2 etc. In total, the FIA control 27 different championships, all of which Mosely is in control of.

Personally I think he's done a bloody good job. Nearly every branch of the motorsport tree has him to thank. Just look at F1 this year, it's been the best racing (apart from Silverstone - I fell asleep...), and that's mostly down to Mosely.

I just fear that when he does step down at the end of the year, the FIA is going to get a 'yes man' who ends up being dictated to by all the major manufacturers.

i think he was planning to step down anyway - but if it allowed FOTA to save face by seeming to force his retirement then you have to applaud Max's unselfishness

Having followed F1 for over 30 years(although not with much enthusiasm in recent years),I think that Mosley has done a crap job for F1(the only formula he is particularily involved with)he was put there by Bernie to do a job for him, bernie employed him for many years as a legal adviser before he became El Presidente,I also think that the manufacturers (as well as Ecclestone obviously) have been very bad for F1.
I dont believe for 1 minute he was about to step down.

...But Mosley is just his puppet, always has been.they should both break off, along with the global corporations and leave the sport to enthusiasts like Frank Williams.
