No, I'm not replacing mine.
JamesV6CDX needs some seats picked up from Nottingham, Tunnie was going to do it, but as I'm going up anyway tomorrow....
Question is, do we just take my car, or do we take Tunnie's Senator as well to be sure?
I think its all the seats and the door cards...
-
Almost certainly yes, although I've never tried it with two people in the car as that means you lose use of the front seat. Howver with the Omega's big boot it should be fine.
Basically both front seats can sit lying across the back seat, then the bench can either go on top or lying across the floor in the back. Rear seat back rests will fit in the boot, leaving only door cards. You might squeeze two in the back and the other two in the boot, or maybe even get them all in the boot. Really easy if the front passenger seat is free though. I had a complete interior for a Mondeo saloon in an Audi A4 once, and that had a dual-fuel setup taking up half the boot space.
-
thanks.
I think secretly Tunnie wants to take his senny for a blast up there....
-
thats a good way of doing it....
If you don't mind picking the seats up Jaime, I could take them to James?
-
thanks.

::)
If you going up to Nottingham anyway, makes sense if you pick them up, and I can take them onto James...
-
thanks.

OK, someone send me some details... ...unless you fancy 'assisting' with my springs anyway, I think all the bolts are shear proof ;D
-
Just seen this thread, I'll send some PMs around as soon as work gets a bit quieter ;)
-
details sent to both...
As long as the seats are ready for collection tomorrow we should be ok! :D
-
thanks.

But are they Tunnie proof..?? ;D

I only managed to get two wheels with tyres in my boot, there may not be as much room under the parcel shelf as you think....
-
I have my doubts chaps :-?
-
Not a chance of getting the seats in one car unless you strip out the rear and passenger seats first.
Tunnie, you should come up too (I want to see/try this Senny). :)
Until you actually see a seat out of the car, you don't realise how big they are.

I've transported full interiors from 4 different cars, all in cars either the same size as or smaller than the car the interior came from. Some of them included things like the centre console and dash trim in addition to the seats and door cards. I'd be very surprised if you can't fit em in with a bit of planning. Doing things like removing the headrests and playing around with the backrest angle on the front seats helps a lot (although the latter may be a problem with electric seats).
As I said before taking a passenger may cause a problem as you're losing a fair bit of space in the front seat, but other than that I'm sure it can be done.
-
So!! Did they fit?

Don't think they got the chance, they weren't ready :-?

Indeed, had 2 weeks to get the interior out, but its still in >:(

So what was the final thought on this?
If they will go in a senny with 2 adults, then I will tag along tomorrow.
If they will go in a senny with driver only, then I won't
If it needs 2 cars, then I will go...

I would really feel bad, if you took 2 cars on my account :-/

Wouldn't woory too much, seeing as you need to find me a new cambelt cover before we do cambelt ;)
-
Will do you a deal, if you accompany tunnie and help get my seats - I'll scour the local scrappy tomorrow for a cover for you :y

I'm happy to go, but if they will fit in one car but with driver only, it seems a little daft for me to go. I have no probs taking mine up if reqd, or tagging along in Senny if it will all fit :)

Sounds good to me. But I really couldn't swear if they will fit or not.
I promise to look high and low, but what are we going to do if there are no covers?
-
Hmmm, hopefully we can as I really want to get that belt changed, and dont really want to have to remove again later to do cover.
My local scrappy, believe it or not, has no 200/25 in, but has 2 400s. One has no cover engine (looks like someone has had the head, and the other I broke the cover :-[
-
I hope we can too, because we could do that belt while all together tomorrow...
Fingers crossed, but please don't be cross if there are none :(

When you over, tomorrow or Sunday?
-
I could do either really, but probably sunday is best for us both, so I can look for a timing cover tomorrow for you, and service my 2.0...

Sounds best plan

Have you confirmed the seats are actually ready this time?

Yep, called the guy at lunchtime. He promised collection is fine tomorrow.
Tunnie has all the info.
If he lets you down, drive the Sennie into his lounge window........
-
So, back to original Q, will Omega seats fit in Senny, and will there be room for Senator?
Tunnie - send me a text msg to let me know whats happening, as I won't be online tonight...
-
I can't answer about the seats fitting, I've never done it
I'll let tunnie liaise with you about the plans, and keep me informed.
I'll be online again Saturday night probably, hopefully with a rover timing cover...
-
I thought I'd already replied about senny carry capacity.... but can't now find the post...
ANYHOW...
I got a full set of Senny Seats in to the back seat & Boot of a Senny...
given that I think they're wider than Omega seats... you shouldn't have a problem... the only trouble is adjusting them to actually fit the space if they're electric...
I'd knock up a lead to a ciggy socket connector and make a note of the pin positions for the seats, then just power them when necessary to change the shape to get them in and out of the car.
I got the 2 parts of rear bench seat in the boot at an angle, and the 2 front seats went into the back seat, with the headrests over the parcel shelf and the seat base pointing "down" into the rear footwell....
angle adjustment was a required to get the second seats in.... and I had the Senny's own fronts seats moved virtually all the way forwards...
a bloody uncomfortable drive home though.,..
Bet you wish you had the stretch senny limo now eh Tunnie ;)
-
right update.... going tomorrow nice and early!
If i remove the rear bench on the Senator, will i fit the Omega Interior in the Senny, with a passenger up front?
The front seats are leccy so i may not be able to adjust them!
I see it going in 2 ways....
Rear Bench in the boot (both parts) at an angle (thanks max) door cards in there too. Front seats in the back.... even more room with the rear bench removed.
Or rear bench in the back along with cards and front seats in the boot :-/
Btw is the Senny rear bench easy to take out as Omega?
-
......

It comes out the same way, pull the 2 toggles at the front edge and lift. The Omega seat belt clips seem to hold on the seat base harder on the Omega than on the Senator.
-
just popped out and yep its easy, just as described pull the toggles and its off.
I am thinking front seats in back of senny, as if they were in the front, bolts facing down... should go in. Rear bench in boot

I can't really remember how it went in but I've seen a complete interior of a Carlton in a Carlton. But IIRC one of the front seats was upside down 'in' the front seat and t'other was also upside down in the back. I assume that the back seat base & back was actually on the back seat. I might be talking a load of bolleaux though ::)
-
we will soon find out, if there is no room TheBoy can sit in the spare seat, fit some wheels to it and I can tow him behind me ;D
-
It fits.... ....even with a fat boy like me in....
Mission accomplished :)
-
Yup surprised at how easily it all went in. For the record...
We used my Senator in the end. with the rear bench removed (just pull 2 toggles)
2 main backs of the rear seats on the boot floor. Rear bench in at an angle, all door cards in on top of it. With 2 head rests.
Fronts seats in upside down in the rear, my seat luckily could go back as normal passenger one fully forward because we had it all the way forward when we removed the bolts.
