On the way home from school today a cock in an Escort van came up behind me I was doing 60 (dual carriage way cars in front was doing 60 so couldn't go nowhere >:() Anyway he was literally 5cm's away from the bumper of the BM so I slowed down to about 35 mph, he was flashing cussing and everything, anyway put me foot down and the BM shot off he couldn't keep up at all (was very proud of it!) He got behind me again son had wrote his rego down by this point (never knew he had a temper like that either dounno where he gets that from ::)) He thought he was going to get round me at a roundabout, got to the traffic lights and 2 lanes go into 1 he had got ahead but caught up and met him at the lights wound down the window and said "lets f**king sort this out you tosser." He sat there laughing mouthing off saying your lucky I didn't hit your shitty motor (He was in a Y-reg escort van and he called my BM shit!!!) Anyway I had to get electric so I raced off in front of him then slowed and gestured come in this car park, the tosser drove off waving Rant over for today but what a useless w*nker >:( >:( >:(
What could I say to the law about this?

Not a lot LSG I'm afraid! You could report his reg. no. and they may look out for him, but it will be put down as 'road rage' with no damage done and therefore no evidence to take the case further with. Your word against his. :( :(
Funnily enough I had trouble with a white Ford Escort van when I had my Toyota Carina who was annoyed I was doing the speed limit on the A28 next to Cobbs Ind. Estate. I was going down to Tenderden so I showed him what I and my 19 year old Carina could do. Eventually he caught up with me in traffic in Tenderden and when he realised I was a woman he waved at me and laughed, and I waved back laughing my head of! Road rage fully extinguished for both parties! ;D ;D ;D ;D
But no there are some right self-abusers round here, but somehow I find an element of "respect" when they come across my large miggy :D :D :D The trouble is now you drive a BMW you become almost a target for all the boy (and girl!) racers out there trying to out race you no matter what pile of shit they are driving!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
I just put things like that down to experience and laugh my head off at them. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
-
...i bet i could have had you from the lights LSG1 ;D :y...what a idiot-in a white sh!tty escort van!
you cant really do anything, suppose you could report as driving without due consideration for other road users and whatever it is. (without due care and attention i think it's called)
i had i think a big white mercedes sprinter van right up my arse so booted it and left him...still an absolute arsecrevis for driving like he was
-
i was heading over to my mates the other day and this guy was right up my @rse on a dangerous stretch of road - gave him the finger and he followed me all the way to my mates - i parked and got out (all 6'3'' of me, shaved head and a bit of a salad dodger tbh :-[) headed over to him to politely enquire as to the nature of his umbrage - fella reversed away and took off like a bat out of hell!! - i don't understand people sometimes - thought he wanted to ask me something :P::) ::)

Can I give you an honest opinion, strictly in a personal capacity...
By the fact you were shouting words to the effect of tosser our of the window, and racing ahead to try and get him to pull into a car-park - proably won't be viewed too kindly. You've at minimum commited a public order offence - and I guess the potential for driving offences on top...
The best thing you could have probably done, is pull over as soon as it's safe, and get yourself out of danger. Then call it in, if you deem it necessary and get the VRM.
Sounds like six of one, half a dozen of the other.....
If you'd have kept your cool and not "bitten" maybe you could have reported him, but as it stands, probably best to just put it down to experience and learn from it.
No offence intended mate - just a balanced opinion.
I have done simelar things in the past, and been offered simelar advice :y

But Lizzie I agree some total and utter tossers drive round Ashford and leave my BM out of it :)

I agree there is a lot of idiots out there,
But the only thing that hapens is you bugger up your nerves, blood pressure, Heart and possible your beloved car. if you react in the same way as they do. its better to try and stay calm and just let the idiot go.
I Know I should practice what I preech, but I do try.
( appart from that I have a bigger accelerator pedal then they do)

welcome to BMW world. Either that or maybe you upset him without realising.
Reguardless, the law will take a "bang their heads together" approach i would think. If your of a mind to play, play with a smile. :-)

I might be missing something here, but from what I've read... you've called it on for a straightener...he laughed at you...and now you want to involve the old bill???
If you were serious about sorting the perceived problem for yourself rather than involve a useless shower of $*ite who's best resolution to anything is to offer a crime reference number, then why were you even talking to him in the first place?
If you were truly pi**ed off, you wouldn't have been talking.

And what do you mean if I had been really pissed off I would've said nothing how did you work that one out?

On a main road with a load of traffic thats just the place I agree!

Owning a BMW sometimes more pricey than you can guess.. :-/
Here is the equation of the game :
Crowded road + fast expensive car in front + slow and cheap big van behind with a young jealous driver wanting a road revenge with playing your nerves.. >:(
I'm afraid thats a trap for you where you cant win..
unless the road become empty or you take very high risks..
So take it easy and dont play their game .. :y
-
i also find these people have their uses. Esp. if you need a new exhaust and or rear bumper. :-)

Thats a very valid point mate and my temper was getting the better of me, thing is I couldn't go nowhere and even if I could've the roundabout was about 400 yards away so had to slow anyway it's just the way he kept mouthing and to Chrisgixer should've thought of that really ;D He probably wasn't insured though :-/

I think all of us have experienced something similiar at some point - or at the very least we have witnessed some very arrogant drivers, I used to be the world's worst at reacting to such drivers until I read in my local paper about a boy racer that had cut up a middle aged guy in another car, they then had a bit of a race through traffic then they got onto the motorway - somehow they ended up on the hard shoulder where the middle aged guy punched the younger lad and sadly killed him with that punch ......... he is now in Prison, a life lost and a life ruined - all completely avoidable and I try to think of that scenario when I have the idiot behind me travelling too close or undertaking me on the motorway - I bet that middle aged guy regrets his actions in every waking moment............
Look at today's incident as a lucky thing he didn't stop!

So why even get irate in the first place if you knew you weren't going to see it through?
Like Cem said, don't worry about it.
Thing is, you had already won the perceived "dispute"....you just didn't realise it.
Twonky Nuts drives like a schmuck, cuts people up, causes unnecessary danger, etc, etc...all because he's after shaving a minute off his journey.
You then catch him up at the lights.
Twonky Nuts sees you, and right at this point in time he is thinking "I've driven like a bit of a dick to get in front of this lot, and now they are right beside me"
Now Twonky Nuts is already half way to a downer about himself, and you could have crucified him by simply looking over, giving a very slight smile of self satisfaction, very slight nod of the head at the same time, and then casually looking away (keep one eye on him slightly though).
At this point, Twonky Nuts will be in complete emotional turmoil, which will produce one of two possible situations....
1. Twonky does his best to avoid contact with you.
2. Twonky flips out, and goes right on one.
Either way, you have done him without raising a finger ;)
-
even in spain i noticed the bmw arses assumed the fast lane was exclusively for them, bad move on their part, I was in a hire car ;)
Also in spain, a dozy bmw bint drove into our car... ...they do attract a certain type of driver ;D
As to biting, as I've got older, I tend to be more relaxed, and try not to react to others bad driving. Can't deny i do occasionally take the bait though ::)

Yeah it's a fair point, but like I said, I said to him car park down the road come in there. TB how have you mellowed? I've got much worse since i've got older :-X

dunno, maybe realised there is more in life to get upset over? maybe due to a new outlook in life I conciously took. Very few things get me annoyed now, though occasionally/rarely the smallest thing can set me off :-[
my dear old grandma, rip, was right all along, things are always better after a nice cup of tea :y

I lost it a bit yesterday morning ;D When a VeccyC driver going around a roundabout was indicating left as I was waiting to enter the roundabout, so I assumed he was gonna exit the roundabout , so I pulled out, but he didnt exit and blew his horn and flashed his lights at me. Next set of lights he was next to me....and had his window down, so I put my window down.....and shouted accross to him "If your indicating left, I assume your rather gonna go left", didnt hear his reply as put my window back up.
Normally I do check to see if drivers are gonna turn even tho they are indicating.....but it was rush hour and i was in a hurry.....and if anyone has driven a veccyC, they will know the indicators on them are a pita.....but if theres one thing i carnt stand....is being in the right and getting horn blown at me >:(

I find that when towing I attract road ragers.
Been nearly driven into, dangerous overtaking when I was going as fast as the rest of the traffic.
Idiots passing me in a lane while I was already in it.
One day I think there will be an accident.
Look Mr Numpty - the car is big and powerful and yes it accelerates as fast as your shitbox.
Last time it happened I drove after them to get their reg!

I seriously NEVER trust indicators.
All they are are flashing lights, there are too many idiots driving about with indicators going when they arent even turning anywhere.........
I would never ever pull out onto a road if the car coming towards me was indicating that he was turning into the road I am exiting, simply not worth the risk.....

I am under the impression in Mr Taxi drivers case, if a collision occured, he would have been at fault? As i understand it, a flashing light on the other car does not alter priority?

That is what we were always taught and have adhered to every since, which when I last read it was still in the Highway Code. :y :y
Mike (Vamps) is absolutely right to teach his son defensive driving, which I believe has kept me out of trouble for 39 years of driving. 8-) 8-) 8-)

I got a thick lip when I was about 17 or 18. Turning right out of a T-junction and a microbus approaching from my right was indicating left. I started to pull out and he carried on across my path so I stopped. He waved his fist and I, naively, gave a mock grin. Whereupon he stopped and wacked me through the window. I didn't have time to argue that he should have cancelled his indicator.
I use the 'don't make eye contact' method these days. Oh! and the throttle! :D

Yep. Had to use both the other day when some idiot in an Audi elected to give me driving lessons using some form of sign language. Made a conscious effort not to look and... Yep. Predictably, he tries the horn. Time to check if the rev limiter is still working. ::)

so I raced off in front of him then slowed and gestured come in this car park
You were lucky in one way then weren't you ?.
What if he had followed you into the car park, what if he had been armed ?. As in this day and age more and more people are arming themselves.
Did it ever occur to you that he could be on the lookout for your car again for round 2 ?.
Do you have a partner who use's your BM, what if the other driver spots your car and has another go, but with your partner, or kids in it (if you have them).
Just be careful, as the worlds gone crazy out there these days, and five minutes of macho in your car, could get you in a bit of a spot chap !!.
I know someone who works in the law, and they said Road Rage is becoming much more too common these days, and their seeing the victims results of it !!.

"Road rage" (which is a wholly innacurate term anyway) is only becoming commonplace because the working man (and woman) is fed up with being f**ked up the arse by the law!
PS
You're right about the rest though, people (just like animals) become very unpredictable once you push them far enough.

Normally I do check to see if drivers are gonna turn even tho they are indicating.....but it was rush hour and i was in a hurry.....and if anyone has driven a veccyC, they will know the indicators on them are a pita.....but if theres one thing i carnt stand....is being in the right and getting horn blown at me >:(
I seriously NEVER trust indicators.
All they are are flashing lights, there are too many idiots driving about with indicators going when they arent even turning anywhere.........
I would never ever pull out onto a road if the car coming towards me was indicating that he was turning into the road I am exiting, simply not worth the risk.....
:y
Thats why I never use mine ;D ;D ;D let the buggars guess :P

It's one of those road situations we all experience. He riled you & you took the bait so no point in involving the law...your word...his word etc. I fully understand you wanting to batter him though.

My most hated thing in driving is tailgaters. Nevertheless I always obey urban speed limits and set my mirrors so I can't see the 'gater.
Can't react if I can't see it.
