Title: style of mechanicking
Post by: Varche on 01 July 2009, 15:17:56
So what sort of mechanic actually are  you? Do you take the aux belt tensioner off and repack it with grease even though it sounds and looks great?
Do you degrease and clean parts just so they look good? Do you just do the bare minimum possible to get the car working again? Do you replace things that are working perfectly well because "you might as well"!   :)

Useless on todays modern cars! :-[
Used to tinker a bit with cars when I was a young'un but thats when they still had old fashioned points and carbs. ::) The few tools I possess are more for electrical work.

I do like to do a thorough job, and clean things up around were I am working.  I am a great believer in "a stitch in time saves nine" 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

The best way of doing things :y  :y

Although there's a difference in fixing something before it gets worse and fixing somthing that isn't broke, "if it isn't broke don't fix it". I learned this the hard way a few times :-[

I'm forever pulling bits off, greasing things, degreasing things, just to get it right. I'm the messiest person in every other aspect, but I like my cars to be immaculate and in perfect nick.

I put clean every thing as well .but it depends whos car it is if it mine i also tend to change other things that might need doing or tend to fail  but if its someone elses car then i do what needs doing and check everthing else.
