Wimbledon:
Nobody gives a (metaphorical) toss about tennis for the other 50 weeks each year: why do 'people' get so involved with the game during Wimbledon fortnight?
Case in point: my aunt, took two weeks holiday during Wimbledon each year and was completely glued to the 'box', `couldn`t talk about anything else!....afterwards, nothing, no interest in Tennis (or any other sport for that matter).
Is this the power of 'the pack'.....image-branding.....or just slavish following of the social-scene? ::)

I have no interest in it or any other sport. Drives me mad when they move my favourite telly programs to make way for it >:( >:(

No Debs, it is just a great British tradition promoted by the BBC coverage 8-) 8-) ;) ;)
As you say, the rest of the year is a case of who cares! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;)

Quite agree.
There are enough digital channels now, I think all sport should be on those and stop messing with regular programming.
Don't watch any sport, may watch a few bits of the olympics for things you dont see often, like diving, womens beach volleyball, etc

I am no sports woman, but national sporting events should be on national BBC or ITV channels so the maximum people who are interested can support our teams / sports personalities 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
In anycase, what else would they fill the tv slots with? More dubbing down sterile programs. At least with tennis, football and rugby there is passion involved. 8-) 8-) :D :D ;)

.......I'm afraid that I can't muster any level of interest in sporting activity of any kind, Ms Zoom - never have been. :( or should that be :)

That's two of us. There will be no excuse after the anlog channels are switched off.

sorry Debs, as long as the women wear those skimpy tops and short skirts I'll keep watching :D :D. Although i agree it shouldn't interfere with normal programming

Used to play tennis every Monday night whatever the weather. Hated Wimbledon as it used to bring out members and players you never saw for the rest of the year at this time of year with their designer gear and you couldn't get a game without camping out!
You would have thought that even with tennis overunning that with "plus one hour", videos/hard drive recorders and repeating of programmes no one would be put out.
