Tunnie and I blasted Senny up to Nottingham and changed his springs, good job done.
Then a blast to pick up JamesV6CDX from a dodgy, awkward Ebay seller.
We let Marks_DTM feed us, thanks :y
And a gentle cruise back.
Now I'm laying in bath trying to get rust and shit out of my hair (and eye)...
Lessons learnt:
- Don't get under rusting old heap when tunnie has an air gun in his mitts - you will get covered.
- Ebay is full of arses.
- The Senny's economy is much better now.
- The Senny doesn't do corners as well as Omega.
-
Was a good day, I'll let Mark describe the handling of the Senny. :D
Much better on fuel now in the senny, fuel comp said average of 27.1... real calculations suggested 26.4. Not bad considering sat at 80/85 all the way there, Mark used a gallon 'testing' the handling... then about an hours worth of heavy town driving though Nottingham for the seats. Then an 75/80 cruise back.
Be an even better day if i got my posts back ;)

Was going to text you, the bodge fix worked.
Tested it yesterday morning, idle for 5mins dry as a bone. Checked it after todays 200 mile run, again nice and dry! :)

Its tail happy cornering is due to it being unbalanced.....that boat anchor under the bonnet makes it a bit nose heavy....!!! :y :y
Worth it though to see Tunnies face!

Was an entertaining drive :D amazing how far you can push a car.
That set of lights at the end of the road near you, were you always turn left...... reckon you could get my 2.2 to step out like the 6 pots? ::)

Tunnie, with those back tyres on your 2.2, my mum could get it stepping out...

I bloody love the tyres on my 2.2, ok they don't give the most grip but 15k of miles, + previous owner and STILL 8mm on front! & 6mm on rear, who cares about the grip! My wallet doesn't! ;)

I've done around 15k on mine. Done to around 3mm, but I suspect my tyres have a harder life ::)
-
Hmmm, I'll take tyres that wear faster but will grip when I need them to thanks! ;)
Your wallet may not thank you yet....
-
I suspect I could probably get around 25k out of mine, if I didn't find the MV6 so much fun ::)

I find they grip fine in normal driving, with the snow last week was fine. Got in thick slush and tracked fine :y

I really really find these tread depths and mileages hard to beleive.
New, tyres only have 7 - 8 mm tread from the factory, some less..
These things must be made from pure cast carbon steel with the traction capabilities to match!!

well i reckon the tyre shop near where i live is the busiest in the world, "the local people of limited intelligence" cannot pull out of a junction without a 30 second wheelspin.
there is one perticular numpty in an h-reg rust ridden cavalier, seems more than happy to make it a ritual -no matter what time of day or night it is. lets hope a couple of front tyres and a set of ujs make him think. (doubt it).

My Mitchelins on the front have still got 7mm on the front after 20K, as verified by MOT a few weeks ago.

My dads set of tyres on his 2.2 have covered just over 41k, MOT's and service history to prove.
2.2's lack the grunt of the V6's, and because we know that we don't thrash them as hard as theV6's.
When dad first got his car on lease, his commute was from Brackley to Cheltenham...50k miles. One set of tyres :y

I can vouch for that - it lets go in corners far too easily for my taste...

Oh i like to....when i can ::)
Friday for example....picked up a package to be take to a chemists about 8 miles away.....now theres two routes to get there......boring main roads or cross country.....i took the cross country route....nothing like getting the meega doing 70ish down country lanes :D ;D (BTW i know these lanes well and no animals were harmed during the journey....well...the pulse rate on a pheasant may have gone up a bit...as it ran out of my way ;D )

There is more to tyres than tread depth...
