I've only watched the first 20 seconds, and if that's the best a MIG can do then I'll never consider another one again because it's all over the place.

Dunno why the OP deleted it.
-
Probably didn't like the reply at the top of this page! ::)
-
Has deleted himself as well unfortunately, another one bites the dust. :(

Dont think I would post a comment as strong as that ,unless I posted some footage of myself doing it better. ;)

I know what you mean, but take a look at the video.
All it is, is somebody flooring a big, heavy, RWD car while cornering and it's obvious whoever is at the controls isn't fully in control of what's happening.
-
Maybe his first time. Everyone has to start somewhere and I didn't think it looked that bad!
I assume you will be posting a video showing us how its done? ::)
-
I must admit 20watt I don't think I could do it :-?
-

I'll be up in Manc next month, so lets meet up and I'll take you round Afghanistan Ancoats in your MIG and I'll quite happily show you how it's done ;)

The powerslide part is easy Darth, it's keeping it pointed where you want it to go while the taps are open that can get difficult (especially for the youngsters who don't know how a RWD will react).
-

We know you couldnt even handle being in the car ;D ;D ;D
-
I think he did well to get a big heavy car round the circuit like that. Not my sort of thing (couldn't afford the tyres for one thing), but a good display of car control, IMHO. :y :y

As tempting as it sounds to go to Ancoats :o I don't need showing how! ;)
-
If you want to lose control of the rear end of an omega, try going round a roundabout in the wet. You needn't go very fast. Just to make it more interesting, put cheap tyres on.
-
A big heavy car on a very tight circuit,I dont think the bloke did badly really,Omegas are a ponderous big lump and getting one to change direction quickly isnt that easy.He may not be a budding Colin mcrae but then again not many people are.
-
I've got to agree with Albs, whoever it was driving did quite a good job, considering.

I've had the odd play here and there when its wet, but I find the Omega VERY unpredictable :-/ Maybe its just me? I guess it would help if I was in a manual too, as often the mig decides to change half way through, and thats when it goes wrong... well either that, or i bottle it and abandon job! ;D :-[
-
Just had a look at the vid. That was good and he got better with each circuit (until he lost it at the end). I'd be very happy if I could manage that.
-
Seems like good drifting to me, considering that, with a change of wheels, it could quite happily drive away from the track, pick the kids up from school, then go to the supermarket for the weekly shop.
Or to put it bluntly, not a purpose designed track weapon!
The Omega could be turned rather easily onto a great drift machine.
You could certainly ask the chap on here who drifts an ex-plod Mig, I'm sure if he thought it was garbage he wouldn't be using it now, would he? :-?
-
Controling an omega like that would require some skill. But they really are meant for going in a straight line 8-)
-
Wonder if he welded the diff up like the chap did on here?
-
If it snows I will give it a go, I love doing stuff like that but only in the snow ( not as much damage to the
Wallet tyres)
-
tried similiar with the tc off , Omega not that bad even with auto ..and not all over the place compared to its weight..
a 3.0 or 3.2 with manual and some mods can definitely make better..
of course its not designed for drift.. but can do it as seen..
-
Personally I thought he did very well :y :y :y
Pity some people are downright rude with the comments really as a bit of constructive criticism from someone with more experience would have gone a long way ::) ::) ::)
So... Let's see the expert doing it 20 Watt :y :y

So... Let's see the expert doing it 20 Watt :y :y
Name the time & place LD, I'll be more than happy to show anybody how to powerslide (or rather "drift", as that seems to be the buzzword these days).
PS
Nobody is an "expert" at anything in life, because there is always someone better than you ;)

logically wrong statement..
seen many expert mechanics of which are better in some jobs than the others.. and others in some areas superior to you do not proove you are not an expert ;)
-
I suspect most of those who claim to be able to do drastically better have an ego far larger than their capabilities
-
Sorry Killer but you are being much too hard on this guy. :o
That is a very heavy car and having been a co-driver in a number of rallys (in the late 80's / early 90's) I can tell you from experience (though not an expert ;)) that he is doing remarkably well considering the track & car limitations. :y :y
Got to go - train to Kathmandu leaves in 10 minutes! ;D ;D
-
logically wrong statement..
It's not logically wrong at all Cem.
The day that one particular individual cannot be "outdone" (I use that term loosely) by another is the day the development of the human race ceases.

It never said it was bad Gareth, but it wasn't anything to write home about either.
-
Although it is a big heavy car. If you complain about the handling of any car it means your not good enough. :-X
Here's how its done :y

being an expert is not independent of time variable , of course..as a human you can be expert for a limited time period unless you are immortal..
but the subject you mention is a bit different..
-
I think he done extremly well given the large nature of the car and the type of track he was on
perhaps a bit unfair some of the comments

I believe you're terminology is wrong, just because someone is better than you, does not nullify your status as an 'expert', it just rules out your claim to be the 'best'.

So he lacked a bit of finesse, Precision will come with practice
A big underpowered car (for that type of thing) and probably his road car so not set up for a tight track
If you watch the Dukes of Hazard clip again whys only the traffic island wet .Its the same for most of the other stunts /trick driving, wet/damp road surface and I'd guess over inflated tyres to make it slide easier

You may be a Baron - but don't diss the Dukes ;D

From what i saw all i can say is "Bloody good bloke" :y.
And as is true in most spheres of being the best, there's plenty in the cemetery who thought so :(.

i bet he had aching arms the day after ,power steering fitted or not
-
Well personally I think the bloke done fine :y,
I probably could'nt do what he has done, never tried it, and probably could'nt without being shown how too, and unless you can do a better job than what he has done, then I think your wrong to be slating the driving ::)

If you did then you would soil yourself.....the MIG handles pretty dam well!

Don`t worry Cem; your written-English skills are superb! ;)
