Wet or Dry
How many heads or blades.
Any body prefer the cut throat method.
Whats the reason behind the question.
Had a beard since 1992 and it's time for a change. :'(
-
last 5 years I use dry Shaver
before philips 3 heads 4000
last 2 years braun 9000

stick with the beard! I hate shaving, I just use one of those babyliss for men stuble trimmers on the shortest length setting every few days when i'm feeling a bit too beardy!

I have a Wahl with all the attathments up to no 12 so doubles up for cutting hair as well.
The thing that started it though was the trimmer. The beard was overgrown and I needed to go out, so whipped out the trimmer with a No 2 or 3 attached and the firking thing started to snag (Needed oiling) (I was so pissed off) so I just whipped the attached off and trimmed all the beard down to stubble. That may well be the way it gets done in the future, (and on the day it didnt half feel cold) So maybe and it is a maybe, I might just try a few days completely shaven to see how many people I can scare. ;D ;D

Been a "wet" shaver all my life, and have done the river/bottom of a mess tin thing as well ... not enjoyable but needs must.
Much prefer really hot water, shave oil not soap/foam, twin blade razor.
:)
-
Dont think I've tried wet actually.
Just use a philips twin head battery shaver which does the job ok - having said that, If I leave it more than a day, it struggles. :-[
-
At age 16 my parents gave me an electric shaver, at age 18 I lost it on holiday (left it in accomodation) So money was a bit tight after the holiday and have been wet shaving ever since. Use the one they advertise on tv with 4 blades, for the life of me I can't remember what it is called.
At work a few months back we had a discussion about using a cutthroat, as there is a proper barber down the road from here that still offers it. The general consensus was we will give it a go one day.
-
I dont get on well with wet blade shaving, despite many try's brands etc.
also have very thick hair some shavers struggle with
Had Phillips
Braun
all been ok at best,
but my current one, which Ive been using a few years is a panasonic,
its great, works well, quite fast, use it dry....or wet with lather!
if it broke today, i would replace it with the updated model...

somehow they are a hidden gem, not many know about them, which is a shame, as it think they piss all over the competition.

Flipping eck JB, for the cost of that I would hope it cuts grass and hedges as well. ;D ;D
-
Yup, you didnt specify a budget though!
Ive tried cheap ones, and they dont work for me, had mine about 3-4 years now, so probably averages out cheaper than good gilette blades :y
-
This happens to be my Favourite Shaver ;)

Biggest problem for me when I was shaving is that for ages I hadnt realised I wasnt shaving properly and would blunt or clog my blades within 2 shaves. Now that I know how to shave properly I have allways had a beard. ::)
Mind you, my Girlfriend at the time using my razor never helped.
-
Bet you never complained when she used it on 'her ladygarden'
;D ;D ;D
-
I seem to slobber each time she shaves me ::)

Which bits ::)

From being a teenager I used an electric shaver which were ok at best. When my last one died, I decided to try a wet shave and have never looked back. I get a much smoother shave for not much more time spent doing it.
I use a block of shaving soap, a badger hair brush to apply and a merkur futur, razor. The razor itself was expensive, but less than the leading electic shavers, but the blades are around £5 for a pack of 10 which last a long time so will pay for itself over time.
You should note that it will take around 6 weeks for your skin to become accustomed to shaving again so you will have to put up with a bit of a shaving rash etc

I remember when i had the snip-i did a really good job of shaving myself very close if you know what i mean, only to be told by the doc i didn't need to shave at all >:( i was in agony when it all grew back-the itchiness was a killer!

Amazingly different advice round thwe country on that one...
I had to shave a week before, so itchyness had subsided, yet a mate had to fully shave on the day!
Reckon its down to the individual docs preference :-/

All men should be clean shaven up top and closely trimmed down below! ;)

Gillette Mach 3 with moisturising gel. I get the opposite of shaving rash, if i leave it a few days then shave there's a rash underneath, if i shave every day, clear skin. Would love a badger hair brush & shaving soap but never see them now.
Regarding the "downstairs issue" men should NOT mess about with that & i never would. I think it's ok for ladies to have a "quim trim" should they wish but not a fan of them taking the lot off as many seem to nowadays.
I've tried both but personally prefer a furry peach. :P
-
Currently using a Wilkinson sword quattro razor with cold water and (i believe) a badger hair brush.
steps are :-
1: have a bath & soak face in said bath
2: get out, apply king of shaves gel
3: shave using cold water

Evening Pete. Driving back up the A219 from Wimbledon this afternoon i saw many semi clad sweeties of all origins & the phrase " as long as i've got a face you've always got somewhere to sit" came to mind!!!
When i was'nt concentrating on my driving of course!!!! :P :P 8-)

This is clearly going to go downhill rapidly from this point. I suppose if I mention that I was looking for Trumpers (it is a barbers in london and they make shaving soap) its not going to help?? ;)

Went to the Jermyn Street branch for years- always was attended to by Andreas, although he only cut hair.
Irish John was the shaver but notice was required. The shave from an open razor wielded by an expert was something to behold. 8-) 8-) :y
