Dont understand give it back, and its as if nothing happened.
Wrong
A crime was commited, and yes returning the profits should be the 1st act after detection.....
should still be the punishement phase to follow though >:(

Well that was mentioned last night.
My friend was not happy at all the repair people might even consider going through details on a PC. She also spent alot time following the GG case hoping he got locked up for life. So when I pointed how how he got caught. mmmm , she wasnt quite sure what to say. I have told her about security from the time she started to use the net, but as usual it doesnt sink in untill you see how unscrupulous some people can be when its reported on TV.
As you say JB, the moral of the story and certainly for furture reference. Is never ever store anything on a PC you dont want anyone else to see if it goes for repair. Especially the browser thing.

This is why I am glad I am able to repair my own PC :y

PCWorld, from what I have heard it's nothing new, but Nova computers I am surprised at. If it is the same group they have opperated as Noa and Novatech used to hear good reports about them years ago. (But could be a completely different company.
A local repair man in Rotherham got a bad reputation years ago, he used to charge for new but fit S/H parts and swap bits out of peoples machines with out them jnowing.
I really do hate when people take something for repair and trust them to do the job correctly and realibly, including garages and all other services. >:(

Snap :y :y
When I bought my 1st PC in 1989 (Amstrad 1640) I soon realised every time I needed help it was going to be hard work same regards info as it was all up and coming technology those who were into charged a small fortune to help/repair or upgrade. So I stuck it out and learnt as we went along with a mate.
Even though I only go to componenent level it is enough to know how to check and cross check looking for faults and hence saving fortunes over the years.

Now you know how a woman feels when she leaves her car in a garage. ;D ;D

I presume you mean sub-assembly level as it's very difficult to go below component-level. ;D

Yes, sorry, my mistake. "Computer Component" level as in cards etc. :-[

Trust me when I say any so called "computer technician" who works for PC World would not last 5 minutes when working with real IT Techs.
They only work at PC World because they managed to understand how the (very much hand holding) plug & play sequence works under Windows.
Their level of technical knowledge is reflected in their pay packet (circa £18K per annum). Put them among the real techs and the catchphrase they were destined for is nothing more than "would you like a large fries with that sir?"

Working with 'chips' in both jobs then! ;D
