Someone has sent you a text message to your landline.
I get these all the time at work.
A real pain in the backside!
Or have I missed something? ;)

i think you can text messages to landline numbers now and it reads them out.
Its possible that bt phoned to read the text, your machine answered and recorded it as no buttons were pressed it just 'waited' ... if that makes sense.. try listening again and pressing some buttons on the phone, if it does nothing then its recorded it rather that actually playing it live..

I got one a few weeks ago. Its some system where a person can send a text from their mobile to your house phone. The ansaphone will record the spoken computer generated text from the sms so you can hear it. I can't remember if it was on the machine or I had to call a number to hear?

Yup, a text to a landline results in Tom Baker speaking the message to you.
For a laugh, when the service was launched, we tried to see how many swear words Tom Bake could get in a sentence...

A lot of newer dect phones can display the messages, and send them too
