Title: Never seen this type of ant before
Post by: Auto Addict on 24 July 2009, 08:32:57
I've got about a dozen ants nests in my back lawn.

They've created bare patches where they are nesting.

They're not like your normal dark brown ants, they're a very light brown, almost translucent, but the same size. They don't move as quickly as the dark brown ant, almost sluggish.

Any ideas as to what they are?

pour around 1 pint of petrol over nest, slowly to let it soak in better.  Give it 2 mins, then chuck a match on it.  Works wonders, and the grass grows back within 2 or 3 weeks.

Oh, and use the remaining petrol on the buger van :P

Glad that's resolved.

Either way - I don't see any varieties that are resistant to burning 95 RON.  ;D
