Hi all.
Not happening to me thankfully, but have a friend whos had their email address hyjacked by some company selling products online. And keep sending emails to everyone in my friends email address claiming it to be my friend recommending the company to them >:( .
I'm no computer expert, but wondered if anyone else has had this kind of problem, and if there's a way of stopping the problem, other than shutdown their address. Lucky enough they don't do online banking or anything like that, but just use it as a means of communicating.
Is there anyway of finding out the address path where it's coming from, and block it somehow ?.
I'd love to be able to have a virus which I could send to the little *&@%$ company that's causing headaches.
Any ideas anyone ?.

You can't stop spoofing, anybody can specify the return path as whoever_they_like @ whoever.com

You can only block the incoming mail, you can't stop the sender.
As for where it's coming from originally, that info will be in the mail headers.

Mmm.... I had a feeling it's too late now.
Least when it used to be mountins of 'paper' junk mail, it was more useful, as in the winter you could use it on the fire to help keep you warm ! ::) .
I've just come across some program which is a mail filter which you can piggyback on your email program.
Damn cheek of companies hyjacking your mailbox though ! >:(

His mailbox has not been hijacked, his mail address is simply being spoofed.

If someone was to find out who's spoofing their Email address & the company was based in the UK, could the company be done for it under some kind of Fruadulant act ?? :-? .
Yeah have a feeling I know what the answers going to be ....... we'll never find out !

His mailbox has not been hijacked, his mail address is simply being spoofed.
The fact that it is sending mails to his address book clearly shows that the PC has been compromised.
