Sorry to hear your feeling down.

www.blackcircles.com
Hope it is of some help chap :)
-
Cheapest are £90 a pair
Then fuel, then pet sitters, just can't afford it - too many other cut backs.
-
Just thinking that I can't go to Cornwall until May :o :'(
To say I am depressed is an understatement.
-
You are away. from me. I would love to go to and visit Worcester. instead of having to stay in grotty Preston. (you can tell I dont work for Preston tourism department) ;)
-
Don't go away :(
You'll only feel like me after being away for two weeks on holiday in Dorset, then returning to work this week.
Depressed!!!! :'(
Mick
-
I know how you feel mate.......
My vans sat on the drive. Something as simple and as cheap as caravanning is at the moment beyond our means :'(
However, I have just treated myself to a full tank of fuel. That will last me a couple of weeks :y :y
-
My mortgage will not holiday, that doesn't help, my breakdown coverage has just finished.
All I can hope for is a small lottery win - well bigger than last weeks £10

Same here Martin. You have my sympathy.
My youngest (6) wants a few days at Skegness over the summer hols.
Its bloody killing me to deny him the small things he enjoys like that.
Personally I would rather not go Skeg at all. ::)
-
You have my sympathy Martin..
I have some years in the past that I cant go anywhere else..
I can recommend you to stick to your hobbies in this 2 weeks to empty your mind.. :y
-
oh and by the way , there are much deeper reasons for depressions that nothing can solve..like I have now..

Mate i feel for you, and your little un.....
This has been the first year we have been able to afford a proper continental holiday, driving over to Normandy for a week in May, and it was worth all the saving up we did to see the happiness on our 2 lads (11 and 2 yrs old) faces when they realised they were getting on the cross channel ferry for real this time instead of just sitting in a car watching ships come and go like we used to........!!!!
My theory is that you work hard all year so why not treat them to at least a few days away, where ever that may be.......??
Got the rest of the year to work enough to pay it all off if you have to.......?
Even a day in Skeggy is better than nothing for the kids mate........
Best wishes with it, its a difficult situation to be in.....
:)

Thanks Webby. Its funny though. When they are that age they are satisfied by the simplest things :)
Baking a cake, ice cream from the ice cream van, a short bike ride; even holding my ladder whilst I clean a window.
That little smile is always there and I love him for it :'(
-
I know how you feel.
Been out of work for a few weeks and the Carlton (Omega A!) is sitting in his garage raring to go after alot of work to get it ready for Billing, which it was, but no money to legally get it there.
Simply cannot see the point of t&t to do a few miles if the sun comes out. :'(
-
Haven't been able to go away since 1992 - it gets more managable after a while as you tend to forget what civilised behaviour is really like :y

been out of work since february and used up 6k of savings so far. Things are poo across the country.
im just lucky i have a couple of motors to sell

Would it help, Martin Imber, if I take a photo and send it to you when I'm down there in September :P
I will of course be trying the delights on Ann's Pasties, not to mention Philps in Hayles. And cream tea in Sithney.
As we're only taking a tent, it will be a cheap break for us, petrol being the biggest (and first time for 2 yrs that we've taken the MV6 down instead of tractor).
That said, I am going to be spending £650 on wheels (refurbishing), tyres and alignment in next couple of weeks. Ouch :'(

Hey TB -- if you see anything with 6 swallows on it, (three rows; 3 at the top, then 2 and 1) can you grab us a pic ???? :y
-
Missing the beach, Roskillys, and a few other places :( :'(
-
why not ditch the burger van for a tent?
Get better mpg going to your destination, they are very cheap to run, no tyres!! and you won't be annoying any other motorists ;D
Would it help if i said i am planning on 2 more holidays this year, brining the total to 4 ::)

I like camping, it has not of the hassles or expensive of owning a burger van. You still get to be out in the country, and i personally find it more roomy. I have been in caravans and the beds are just too short and it feels all pokey inside. You can get some HUGE tents, much bigger than a van.
Shove it all the boot, and do a steady 90 err i mean 70 on the way back

Probably not. Some people have more to worry about than themselves ie their family!

Gotta agree there Martin... We've needed to use the self contained facilities on a few occasions, especially once when the "facilities" were so filthy I wouldn't have let a dog in there :o :o :o They wouldn't give them a proper clean because it wasn't peak season >:( >:( :o :o

A car towing a caravan is allowed the following speeds:-
Built up area - 30mph
Single carriageway 50 mph (only 10mph below solo car)
Dual carriageway 60 mph - plenty of room for you to overtake at 70.
Motorway 60 mph, again, plenty of room for you to overtake.
On a daily basis, how many times are you held up by a caravan?
On a yearly basis, once, or maybe never?

It's unfortunate that caravanners get such a bad name... I doubt I would hold you up much if you were following me as I tow at the maximum safe and legal speed for the road and conditions.
Unfortunately there are a large proportion of mature caravanners who would be driving exactly the same way without the burger van on the back... But people don't see it that way ::) ::) ::)

I've been held up about 6 times in the past week, I find them one of the most annoying things on the road >:( When you go on a caravan holiday what do you actually do, went once with my mum years and years ago all we seemed to do was sit outside the caravan and talk or visit the countryside :-/

I agree but, I also agree with what James said could've been worded in a more polite manner. I have to say mind you, we haven't been on holiday in about 4 years and I don't think it's anything to get depressed over :-/

People caravan for many different reasons.
Those, such as us, with an older 'van because it is very cost effective and we enjoy it.
Others, with the newer 'vans, because they enjoy it and have an interest in it. They also take a pride (maybe obsessively?) in there hobby.
We use ours as a base, sleeping, washing, toileting, storing possessions, playing. The list goes on.........
Oh yes, SWTSMBO won't go anywhere near a tent. I don't blame her ;D ;D

Still don't agree with that one, costs like 5k to buy a basic one. Must cost at least £500 a year to run, before you take it anywhere.
Has to be stored somewhere, maintained, tyres, and so on.
You then have to tow it to your destination, getting crappy MPG, causing big tail backs, those cars following are doing 50 mph which is highly uneconomical speed for them.
You then have to pay to pitch it, pay for electric, the car, and buy food! Then got the depreciation of caravan itself.

Yeah plus having a second tent does not help, we take my main tent and a small popup one. That way we have a compartment each.
Have bee thinking about getting a bigger tent that has 3 seperate pods, but they are quite pricey.

Quite often those massive tents do require higher pitch prices. For the few times you'll use it, 2nd tent probably makes more sense.

I think those people who know REAL depression would object to it being used to describe the feeling of not getting away on a holiday........
