Title: Rear door blower motors
Post by: cornishtaz on 22 February 2007, 22:35:33
Just been browsing on Ebay and i came across a switch for the rear door blower motors. This is the switch in question.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-VECTRA-SIDE-DEMISTER-SWITCH-BLUE-LEDS_W0QQitemZ300082815454QQihZ020QQcategoryZ10404QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Does anyone have these items fitted to their car if so are they any good and where does the switch sit. Also is it possible to retro fit them to cars without them.

The Haynes manual wiring diagram shows the wiring.

Any help or ideas

Are they any good, were they fitted as standard?

Standard on mine.
IIRC they only blow cold, I've never really used them, rarely have passengers & TBH I forget it's there!

These were available on earlier Elites, the effect is demisting the rear side windows, and as far as I know they blow through vents at the top of the door cards. So in order to retro-fit to them to a later car you will need at the very least the door cards with the vents plus the ducting from the body to the door...?

They work by sucking (presumably warm, as heater likely to be on in damp conditions) air up from footwell and blowing up screen.

Fitted to early elites only. Probably not worth the effort retro fitting...

I've often wondered where the air comes from as there doesn't appear to be any ducts unless maybe the speaker grille?
They don't work very well & make a noise hence why I don't use them, no wonder they stopped fitting them.
