I bought a pair of Phillips DECT phone 8 weeks ago a they have completely stuffed up, sadly I cant find the Argos reciept to take them back. :-/
Anyway. my question is this, I believe other sets of phones can be added to my current set allthough I cant remember the terminology.
I cant get extra handsets of the same make/model. I could I suppose add annother pair of phones on an extension socket (trying to stay away from that option)
So can I add extra hand sets from other makes/models and just use thier bases as charges rather than plug them into BT sockets as compatible phones.
TIA. :y

You should be able to add any DECT compatible handset to your existing base station, you may have to un pair the existing handsets first tho, depending on how many handsets the base station will handle.
Whats gone wrong with the original handsets?

Nope, you should be able to add a DECT phone which is GAP compatible to a GAP compatible base station.....

Had a new line, so thought I would have the new phones.
Engineer had trouble with the line when installing due to and unbalanced line and the install took 4 hours.
After that I had issues with an echo on the phone that seems to disapear after a min onr so. I also noticed this plus poor volume issues seemed to be happening when it was raining/poor weather.
Put at least 4 complaints into BT faults but seemed to improve after a line test. The guy at the test centre suggested it may have been water on/in a joint and the fact they send a small voltage down the line some times dries it out (His explanation - and if wrong please dont shoot the messenger. ;D )
Any way, tues I was in the middle of a call I I suffered from massive feed back. Had to end the call. Phoned faults for a test and was told the line was fine but we could hardly hear each other, he rang me back on my mobile. He asked if Ihad a fax machine, to which is a no, both hansets were the same problem. So he booked a repair and warned me if no fault found I was liable for a bill of £125.
Now with the install issues and the fault repoarts I honestly thought it was a BT issue.
Anyway, nipped and got my old phones and guess what, no problems with feed back. so it seems the issue is the base unit/charger.

In which case adding other handsets, will make no difference if the fault is the base station

Now go the other way.
use the knaced base as a charger, and dont connect to a phone socket, and add the 2 working hand sets to my original working pair which ar BT phones.

I used to have a couple of Philips DECT phones and they were a constant pain in the backside. Have binned them in favour of wired phones now. Sorry, that probably wasn't much help. :(

Best ever DECT phones I had were in fact phillips, I think they were the Onis range, still have them but the buttons have become clogged.
From now on I reckon panasonic may be worth a try, or stay with BT phones.

Argos will still be able to find the transaction.
Even if they insist on "mugging" you off, you can still talk to the manufacturer regarding a repair.

Nope....and even when they are its no guarantee that they will work together
