Title: CHROME DIAL SURROUNDS FITTED & BRIEF HOW TO
Post by: MikeDundee on 25 February 2007, 20:37:56
After trying yesterday to no avail, managing to pick up a spare dash & housing from Max today to play with, the results in pics below;

After removing the plastic housing face, by prizing with a flathead screwdriver, unfortunately as it has been glued in place some bits cracked off, had to just take time prizing a little bit at a time, and be careful on the corner sections. Before you attempt to remove the housing face you have to remove the plastic beading that runs along the top and bottom of the housing.

The chrome surrounds sit in the sloping sections of the dial surrounds, it is better to tape the the chrome surrounds in place. Then superglue the surrounds in place from the back of the housing.

Picture not very good but this is the plastic beading, it is better to put this back in place before putting the housing face back on, the housing face needs to be glued back in place.

Completed with normal dials.

Completed with white dials. However, there is a hole missing on the speedo dial for the fog lights, and the dial unti will not clip fully back into housing on 1 clip. I hope to overcome this this afternoon (Monday).

Very nice Mike.  Now that you've finished isn't it time to sell up and start again.  I'd like a nice new car  ;)

Yeah they did, but not easy, take the black caps off first with a bit of forceful persuasion, then I used a tack lifter to lever them off carefully.  :y

Yeah I just fitted them on the one you gave me, so you'll get back my housing (to play with), just hope it fits, or you'll have a dash with chrome surrounds returned  :(;D ;D

errr....   let's hope it fits then.......    I think i would have held off the superglue until the real thing though... just tape would surely have been enough proof of concept......   as your glazing panel will be cleaner and nicer being several years younger than mine...

fairy nuff mate fairy nuff.

If there does turn out to be an issue, we could sort it out.... I'll get some chrome rings for mine, which you could then fit to your original housing.

Love the white dials, chrome surrounds don't stand out very well though or is it just the pic

Yeah no problem Max :y...Iam contemplating whether to re-colour the inside of the housing, as I have'nt actually glued it back on yet ::) ::)
