My insurance with norwich union was £300 last year. Just got my renewal through, they want £274 this year. Not too bad i suppose....it has came down.
Just tried Direct Line for a quote................£193 fully comp for me and the mrs :)...and the excess is now £100 lower as well at £150. :o
( and no,i dont work for direct line)

I'm with Churchill (part of Directline), last year I paid £332.   I have relocated to Glasgow and my renewal is £252.   I have a home policy with Directline and I am a named driver on my fiancee's Directline motor policy so I did an online quote with them expecting loads of discount and the quote came out at over £400!!!   Next on the list to try are Saga and Over 50 Insurance Services.

just checked confused...the cheapest quote was swiftcover,at £274.....but that was with a £300 excess!
I reckon Direct Line will have a new customer at end of the month :y
Why do so many companies have wildly different quotes though? There were 2 or 3 on confused there that were quoting £500-600!!!  >:(

Oh how I wish I could pay the sort of prices some of you are paying. I'm paying £192 per month for 3rd party insurance, I shopped around for ages. I'm 19, Omega 2.2 in group 13 and no ncb. No points or endorsments or anything. Seems totally unfair but that's life  ;D

That sucks Josh.

It will come down a lot once you get a bit of NCD.

When I got quotes for my Astra, they ranged from £300 to £3000 - shows how unregulated it all is....

Saga are atrocious in my view.

You think they are there to benefit experience and carefulness but I suspect they are looking for "gullible" really.  Then you get bombarded with junk from them.  Admittedly they go away if you tick the right boxes.

I was with Direct Line (and Privilege which is also theirs) for quite a few years.  Good, prompt service and good prices...  until they think you're not looking.  Had to change to get back to sensible premiums.

Ive found swiftcover to be really good, might depend on your age though! Mine costs £220 a year fully comp, with 6 years NCD and im 37, cant grumble at that, its less than my old 99 Mondeo TD believe it or not!

I can recommend Adrian Flux quote. £250 fully comp for the year. I'm 34 with 10 years NCB. Got a discount for being a member of a car forum too. And a further discount for being a RoSPA Advanced Driver. :y

Don't know what the service is like if you have to claim though!

By all means use these sites for reference & then ring the cheapest company direct. That's what i do. These insurance sites take a commission ;) Saved myself £17.00 :)

Adrian Flux don't have a great reputation amongst kit car owners. That might just be their specialist kit car department though (or the lack of one!).

Quick note to all of you. Have you tried a site called Quidco. Its one of those cash back operatives.

You simply register (think it costs £5 a year which they take from the money you get/earn)

The amount varys with the company you use but as a case in point.

My wife had a Volvo 940 2.3 last year. Went on Confused and others and they all said Budget were the cheapest at £191 fully comp. Went to Quidco, typed in Budget, used they're shortcut to it, filled in the details again and brought the insurance. 2 Months later I had a BACS payment into my account for £100, so £91 a year fully comp. I was well happy!

On money saving expert.com there are actually people who get such a good deal that the insurance company actually pay them for taking the policy.

Hope this helps
