Title: Wied bug

Has anybody seen one of these beetles before? The thing  landed on my car as I was parking  I've never seen anything like it before its aproximately 5cm long not including the antenna  :o (http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss192/omegaman51/DSC00039.jpg )

send it to the british museum, your get an answer back from them very quick. i see a strange spider when i was with my x and sent them a pic. turned out it was a banana spider came across here in the fruit and veg cargo

I have found out what it is no thanks to the Natural History Museum they couldn't even be bothered to reply to my email they apparently charge £80 . However I got in touch with a Dr David A Kendall an entemologist via his website he said to quote
"Large Poplar Longhorn Beetle or Poplar Borer, scientific name: Saperda carcharias. Fairly rare in the UK - interesting sighting & worth recording in the National Biological Records

Its out them yes I am sad Need to get out more.
I am also a smartarse a paleaontologist digs up dinosaurs ::)

freinds is one of my fav progs, i think the humour is excellent, that and scrubs  ;)
