some fella on ebay flogging his colour cdi screen.

eeeeeeeep , just phoned a vauxhall breakers in bedfordshire on the off chance or a bit.(which he didnt have lol)
asked him about the all singing all dancing colour screens for the fce lift omega, "aint got none fella" oh , and if you had one,how much mate ? " about £50 " you sure the colour cid face lift omeg,have to get it coded in with tech 2 jobbie,u sure !!!!!!!!?

£50 shame they didnt have one ;D
The reason they are only £50 is because they are about as much use as a housebrick if they haven't been depaired from the stereo before. No amount of tech2 can get around this.

Consider this option......de-pair the radio from the display....the radio is now in delivery mode....
Fit CID and pair the radio to the CID.....

Nope, doesn't work - as the CID wasn't in delivery mode, so the pair fails....

Same with telematics unit as well as far as I can work out.

Not according to the info I got .....as thats how your replace a failed NCDC unit.....you fit a new one which is in delivery mode and match it to the CID etc....

You get an error - the CID has not been security deactivated, or words to that effect when you attempt to pair...

Seems a bit of a numpty way to do it if you ask me......if you get a fault with the headunit then....ie its dead.....or same with the CID, thats dead too.....as you carnt obviously unpair them.....you have to have a new headunit and a new CID......seems a bit excessive to me and blooming expensive if a vx dealer does it :-/

Non cyncical answer is anti-theft (NCDC range do not have radio codes).
Cynical answer I will keep to myself.

But i'll ask the question i was thinking of before anyways.....
If you did get a CID or head unit that wasnt unpaired.....couldnt you take it to places that advertise code unlocking on stereos/etc.....i mean this in a legal sense....ie not youve nicked it......but legally own it......
ie when i bought my veccyB.....the garage had let the battery go flat on it.....so when battery was charged the radio wanted the code entered.....but they didnt have it.....so they pulled the radio out and sent it to a local shop who reset the code....just wondered if same could be done with CID/head unit?
Understand if this is not answerable on a public forum :-/ :y

With radios, it can normally be done via serial number decoding or via databases of known codes. The CID security system doesn't work in same way, so such ways wouldn't work...

seen the website of one of the autobahnstormers lot, he retro fitted/upgraded to cid.
had to be taken to be paired,he bought his of a chap on ebay second hand , will go look at his site when i remember who he was lol.

the unit he had was brandnew , unused secondhand . should look at info before trying to look cleaver :)

Just a couple of thoughts......
Does the CID have surface mount components? If one could possibly be got for £50 and it's a normal PCB (Unlikely) it'd be worth it as a guinnea pig to dismantle etc but you'd need to set up a test rig and have tech 2 to hand.
Got a feeling that you'd have to have access to GM's security databases though....
Who is the display made by? Siemens? Is there any avenue through the manufacturer of the screen?
