I can't access my sky email account from my vodafone mobile. Sky says it's vodafone's problem and vodafone says it's sky's !!!.
Anyway --- the phone is already set up to access G-Mail accounts and sky's email service is provided through G-Mail! Is there any way of getting access using a modified address ? I have tried using the sky mail address through the G-Mail route with no luck !!!!

First thing you have to do is login (using a PC) to your Sky account and activate POP3 forwarding.
You will need (from Sky) the following info:
Incoming email server
username: (The one you log in on line with).
password: (The one you log in on line with).
Once you have that, do the following...
1. Press menu
2. Scroll to and select messages
3. Scroll to and select settings
4. Scroll to and select emails
5. Scroll to and select email accounts
6. Press options
7. Scroll to and select create, and press yes
8. In mailbox name enter Sky and press next
9. In mailbox type select POP3 and press next
10. In my email address enter your email address
11. In user ID enter your email account username
12. In password enter your email account password and press next
13. In IMAP4/POP3 server enter your incoming server address and press next
14. In SMTP server enter send.vodafone.net and press save
15. Press ok
16. Scroll to Sky and select
17. Scroll to and select email profiles
18. Scroll to a free profile (e.g. profile 3)
19. Press options and edit
20. In profile name enter Sky
21. In APN enter
for Contract Customers: internet
for Prepay Customers: pp.Vodafone.co.uk
22. In login ID enter web
23. In password enter web
24. Press save
25. Select Sky
You'll then have email on your phone

Sending mail may still be an issue. Well, sending will be OK, but the recipient receiving it may be, as there is a good chance it will get nuked by the spam filter as it has not come from a 'valid' (as far as the recipient's mails server's spam filter is concerned) sender for your sky.com email address (it will look like its come from vodafone's relay, not a 'valid' sky one).
Unless the mail comes from one of Sky's servers or from Gmail, its set to Softfail.
So it may work, but expect people to either not receive it, ot receive it in their Junk folder. This will get worse as more and more email providers start to tighten their mail servers.
I seem to recall one of the mail platforms I look after was rejecting something like 20 million emails a day (I've slept/drank since then, so may be slightly out).
Techie details for those who care:
"v=spf1 ip4:87.86.189.0/25 include:aspmx.googlemail.com a:im3.sky.com mx:sky.com ~all"

Thanks for the info TB -- will bear that in mind -- however I really only need to read it from the mobile -- if it requires a reply I will do that from the comp at home -- PITA using the keypad for anything other than "yes" and "No" !!!!
