and Snails.
1. Aquire one 'homing' rat (definitely male)
2.Take 20ft of very strong string (preferably wire reinforced)
3.Tie one end of string around rats neck and the other end to a wooden stake.
4.Mark out a plan of your garden in a 20ft radius grid.
5.Take hammer and bang stake into the ground in the middle of 'grid 1'
6. Leave rat overnight to feast on any passing snails and slugs
(dont forget a bowl of water as rats like to drink with their meal)
7. Repeat every night until you have covered all 'grids' in your garden.
8. Think of a nice name for 'ratty' and dont forget to reward him with a few treats every now and then.
(they do like a nice bowl of milk and 'doggy' choc drops)
Whatever you do dont let him loose as he will be breeding in no time at all. If,like me,you let him escape you can tell if he's raising a family if you see him running across the lawn with half a loaf of bread on his back.If this happens then sadly you have to take punitive action

or simply - throw salt over them :y

Anyway alloy wheel cleaner works well on slugs.

Leave a shallow bowl of Lager (that's all it's fit for) & get the Slugs pi**ed so they drown themselves in it!
-
Open a dialogue, establish your position and ask them to leave - simple :y :y
-
They dont seem to like vinegar either.

There was i thinking this thread was about caravans & the disposal off :D

I live on top of the North Downs,i have more slugs and snails per sq mtr than anywhere else in the world.
A couple of years ago they all disappeared, not a single one did i see for nearly two years, then one night whilst having a crafty fag in the garage i caught a glimpse of a rat out the corner of my eye,i had seen a few funny shadows pass by on previous nights but put that down to my secret stash of johny walker.
So i resolved to clear the garage out the next day.
In amongst some old dust sheets i found the rats nest with several hundred empty snail shells.
Took me a little while but i eventually 'despatched' said rat.
Within a matter of days the garden was 'moving ' with slugs and snails again.
Thats why i say if you dont like slugs get yourself a good rat......... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

;D Brings to mind images of drunken slugs picking fights with people in the street, `throwing up over their monopodic-mates and urinating in shop-doorways.......the spiral of beer addiction that led to them losing their former 'homes' as snails: little wonder they`re suicidal and drowning themselves in Stella! ;D

My welsh isn't good enough to communicate with the locals, so, just have to slug pellet them into submission! ;D
My poor guinea pigs have to fight them for their food, have to remove them from their hutch frequently! >:(
