Had dealing with some of the no good slimmy robbing scum this morning. My other halfs mate parked in the car park across the road in the pub and with in 2 mins they had stuck a clamp on it and then demanded £375 becasue the tow truck had been called. Well half an hour of argueing with then still no tow truck. one of the guys thought he was a bit tastey jumped out the van after a few names were exchanged and run round the van infront of me as thought we were gonna roll up our sleeve stopped a few meters away from me gritting his teeth. So i then told him that as soon as he touched me i would have him nicked and then put him on his arse aswell. after squaring up to him he backed off and went and got back in the van and said i know where you live. all i asked was if she could pay on card as it was a legal obligations. and his reply was ill only take cash with some other words added. they are just bullies and i will not back down from any one and i think he made himself look like a right prat as there was two of them and they called for back up so it was one on four and still none of then came back at me. What a bunch of useless thugs. any experiancs with clampers?????

if its on private property IE Not COUNCIL carparks or NHS then you are perfectly entitled to get youself a grinder and grind the clamp off the look on the clampers faces is priceless the police cant do anything as you can also press charges for criminal damage to your car
you can also sometimes let the tyre down and drive straight out of them on the chain clamps
-
forgot to add they only accept cash as the amount of Debit/Credit card chargebacks is unbelievable so the banks wont give them merchant terminals and if they do they make them have a bail bond sort of thing
this only applies to Debt collectors bailiffs & clampers my sister works in the fraud dept @ Lloyds TSB and she told me this

Not sure about that ,I was under the impression that if they put up clear signs setting out what the penalties are they are legally entitled to clamp you. :-/

no its unenforcable in law as they are basically relying on the act of tresspass which means if it went via the legal system instead of courts they would have to prove your car being parked there caused them a £280 odd loss! or whatever the release fee is
i somehow cannot see how a 2minuite car parked in a car park has caused a £280 loss! so therefore it would be struck out of court

If they are demanding money to release then all offers of payment should be allowed. FFS, the withdraw limit at a hole in the wall is only £300, so by charging more than that they have you by the balls.
You all need to forward reports to WATCHDOG.
1. to bring the charges down.
2. to allow fairer methods of on the spot payments.
3. to have a fixed time of leaway of at least 10/15 minutes.
4.?? am sure others can add more questions

They must carry around a large amount of money - sting operation anyone?

and I wonder how many of the payments are legit. pouncein 2 mins, clamp and demand payment in cash, working allsorts of unsociable hours........ mmmm wonder how many sets of reciet books they use. does the boss know the clampers work night's ? Seriously makes me start to wonder. put up a sign, clamp, demand money, police and councel arnt interested. Sounds like the ideal scam.

alo some thing has just clicked they clamped someone by our electric gate that is part of our property and demarnded the money off them even tho they was only two steps away from the car they run up behind and got them. i have now realised we use a different clamping company so i phone them to let them know and now they are investigating it and the company that are meant to do it here are a family outfit and are really not to be messed with. so maybe i might have a small victory over then. :y

They have to have signs clearly stating the rule and in eyelevel sight of where the car is. I know this as I often deal with a clamping company by my shop, I'm ok though, got a permit to park. We've had no problems with them though. :y

Think of all that money - use a hire car and a few large friends, just choose a town you do not live in.
