I need to secure an engine to a pallet, early tomorrow morning!
What's the best way chaps to do this - ratchet straps? If so where can I get some first thing for a reasonable cost? Any alternatives?
Edit to add - it's the Miggy V6 variant..
Cheers :y

Ratchet straps are best. I was carrying a six cylinder Lister diesel on the fork lift that was bolted to a pallet some months back & a piece of the pallet dropped under the tyre & the engine jumped off the pallet into the road :-[ ;D.
Just the small ones are all you need :y Machine Mart sell em :)

Ratchet straps will definately do the job (even the motorcycle ones), but why go to that expense when you can do the job equally as well with shrink wrap?

Yep,shrink wrap will work.you will need to use a lot of it but it will do the job.I used to shrink wrap 1.5 tons of concrete blocks onto pallets for transporting, never had a problem. :y

At short notice the best way would be tie some rope around the engine and pallet then if you can get your mits on one a large box and put that over the engine and shrink wrap is best but whole roll of cling film might do and just wrap it around the box and job done and with the V6 they have nice flat sump to sit on, i've done this in the past and they have always got to the buyer fine unlike the DTI engine that come to me from MEGATW**S, they put it on it's side and on a pallet and used no straps just sent it out and i was not to happy when i got it because it had been dropped and had a smashed rocker cover, oil cooler and stat housing >:( >:(
