Title: Let's have a(nother) recession!
Post by: Nickbat on 02 October 2009, 11:38:20
Professor Kevin Anderson:

“The wealthier parts of the world, including Britain, will have to seriously consider reducing their levels of consumption over the next 10-15 years while we put in place low-carbon technologies.

“That may mean having only one car per household, a smaller fridge, buying fewer clothes and electronic goods and curtailing the number of weekend breaks that we have.

“It’s a very uncomfortable message but we need a planned economic recession. Economic growth is currently incompatible with reductions in absolute emissions.”

Meanwhile, in China.... ::)

Anderson is director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, which seems to be run by bunch of leftie uni academics.

Why does he think that climate change research gives him the right to make economic and political pronouncements?

I have two words for Mr Anderson, and the second one is "Off!".

It need not be a recession, just slower growth. But then again you cannot control both supply and demand so his idea wouldn't work.

It's being worked on at the moment ODM, and can be achieved through draconian legislation applied on a global basis
