Came out this morning to find my driver side mirror hanging off. The mirror and casing is ok but the cast section that attaches to the car has snapped off.
(One thing I've noticed is that if it had happened to my pre-facelift, the mirror would have been popped back in, but Facelift mirrors only pivot horizontally.)
Anyone know the procedure or if there is already a "How to.." for replacing the mirrors on a Face Lift ?
Many thanks to PeteG for the swift response to my "Wanted" post this morning. If it hadn't been the w/end it'd be on the car tomorrow. Doesn't get much better than that. :y

Ever so easy to do Turk. The inside triangle cover just pops off, pull it outwards from the opposite end to the rise/fall window (2 small white plastic clips) and off the lip of the rise/fall rail. Then undo the 2 x phillips head screws and the mirror is off. Turn it upside down, pull out the polystyrene filler block and unplug. Re-fitting (as the book of lies says) is the opposite :y

Simples ! Cheers :y

Yeah, saw one on Friday, failed the same way with the casting broken on a facelift. Seems they are a bit brittle...

i found the wing mirrors very strong from frontal impacts, idiotted mine a couple of times at speed ::)
Once the glass fell out but they just pop straight back in.

Backed onto my drive, twa**ed the gatepost, N/S mirror pushed right forward onto 'A' pillar, smashed the top & bottom covers but didn't break either the mirror or the casting! :o Had a brilliant result with a replacement from PeteG :D :y :y
