Title: You all should watch this
Post by: Nickbat on 04 October 2009, 23:51:28
Please, please, watch this.

..and remember that the the UN is holding a conference in Copenhagen (December), which is intended to slash the industrialised nations' output of carbon dioxide while, at the same time, paying trillions in reparations to LDCs (Less Developed Countries). You may terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired, but this could affect each and every one of us.

Meantime, the Sun continues its slumber...

Will we be allowed to have this open dialogue? ::) ::)

Would it not be more reasonable to suspect that it was, is and always will be the sun - anything mankind can muster in terms of the effect on the global climate cycle pales into insignificance when compared to it?

Saw the video heading 'Unstoppable solar cycles' and thought it was some new electric bike.  ::)

So it would appear that the current 'Political' climate model is just a big scam to screw us?  Nice!

aah - good - we can all relax now, almost all scientific studies about our affect on climate change is bogus, theres nothing we need to do about it  ;D

very balanced scientific argument - i love how theres no alternative view presented, unlike articles in proper news outlets who present both sides of the argument and allow us to examine the facts, it comes as no surprise to learn the source of the film and their methods

http://www.desmogblog.com/heartland-institute-tricked-video-subjects-in-unstoppable-solar-cycles

oh and i love your dependency on that Fox lackey Watt - always a pleasure  :y

it's the wrong argument in any case - no ones denying the earth would be warming anyway (i've said on numerous occasions that we're coming out of an ice age) but the argument is that are we accelerating global warming or not? 8-)

ps - have a look at the sinister "Idea Channel" website - its like some bizarre cult  :-/

....I thought that's precisely what the doom-mongers were doing bj by stating that changes to the climate were as a result of recent human activity and not part of the natural cycle of the relationship between the sun and its dependencies.  Indeed the terrifying nature of the message seems to depend on this suggestion to ensure maximum impact. :o :o

….far from it bj, there’s plenty to be done.  What we shouldn’t do is;

 Stunt development by various means in the hope that less activity using technology as a facilitator will rectify matters;

Promote global harmonisation on the back of these scare tactics over climate change;

Deny our people a decent standard of life by restricting their personal movements and habits by demanding their adherence to a doctrine issued by unelected officials operating from a global agenda. :y :y

Hmmm...............interesting ....one sided view.....now ....... at least we can all sit back and use extra heat....light...etc ......etc.....with no need for any concern whatsoever.
I like the way that there was no possible alternative...it is all perfectly unambiguous.......done and dusted......everything is now clear........or perhaps Nickbat has been "cherrypicking " ...his information again. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ;)

if it comes down to a straight debate between the UN and some free market radicals with privately funded research to make their point (using deception, misdirection and bald lies) then i've gotta go instinctively with the UN - i've never seen a single climate change doubter that isn't in the payroll of an interested party - give me your independent evidence.

anyway - as i'm sick of saying, it makes not one jot of difference either way- mankind is unable to make a decision based on anything other than greed and self-promotion

an argument i discuss in my new book "Buy This  Or the Earth Dies!" £16.99 at all good bookshops.....DVD and tour to follow  ;D

either we won't do enough, or it won't matter - and i don't see that changing anytime soon but
i don't buy the dogma spewed by either side - i weigh up the relevant facts and decide

now....i must get back to my book  :y

Just stick to the facts, if you can. Tell me where the physicist Dr Willie Soon has got it wrong.

You can't, can you?

The film does state that humankind has an effect on the environment, but that any such effect is totally dwarfed by solar influences. It's what, as scientists, they believe. Why should they state anything else?

Desmog:

Democracy is utterly dependent upon an electorate that is accurately informed. In promoting climate change denial (and often denying their responsibility for doing so) industry has done more than endanger the environment. It has undermined democracy. There is a vast difference between putting forth a point of view, honestly held, and intentionally sowing the seeds of confusion. Free speech does not include the right to deceive. Deception is not a point of view. And the right to disagree does not include a right to intentionally subvert the public awareness.

Although all public relations professionals are bound by a duty to not knowingly mislead the public, some have executed comprehensive campaigns of misinformation on behalf of industry clients on issues ranging from tobacco and asbestos to seat belts. Lately, these fringe players have turned their efforts to creating confusion about climate change. This PR campaign could not be accomplished without the compliance of media as well as the assent and participation of leaders in government and business.

The world’s best-qualified scientists agree that climate is changing and that the burning of fossil fuels is mostly to blame. Although there is no debate in peer reviewed science journals, the well-funded and highly organized public relations campaign has left the impression – in mainstream media – of a lively and continuing scientific controversy.

Scientists from within the fossil fuel industries’ own organizations raised red flags about climate change as early as 30 years ago – and they specifically dismissed the credibility of deniers by 1995. Yet the fossil fuel industry has continued to support efforts to subvert the science, attacking real scientists and promoting a cast of “skeptics” in their place. DeSmogBlog looks behind these deniers to test their credentials and to search out their source of funding.

People have a right to know who is paying the deniers. It is difficult to deceive or confuse a well-informed person. DeSmogBlog exists to clear up the PR pollution around fossil fuels and climate change.

Simple logistics tells anyone capable of original thought that NO amount of taxation will reduce the damage we are alleged to be doing.

Simple fact is this, the ONLY way we can reduce the amount of damage we are alleged to be doing is to stop completely!

Cath senior - job is to understand climate change...............it goes on and on,They are fixated with climate change.They told us this summer was going to be an absolute scorcher.Dont they think that when this doesnt happen that we might not trust their long term climate predictions . ::)

Apparently the government has just appointed a "chief energy scientist " who has decided that the UK carbon footprint is much larger than previously stated.This is due to the fact that China produces quite a lot of goods which are exported to the UK, so this should be added to our footprint. That also means of course that Chinas carbon foot print isnt as big as they thought so panic over. :y ;D...........Do these people have a competition between themselves to see who can insult our intelligence the most. ::)

David Suzuki - for those who haven't heard of him - the best way to describe him is as a Canadian David Attenborough who looks like Mr Myagi from the karate kid - so right there i'm on his side  ;D ;D ;D

anyway hes a very well respected and highly decorated broadcaster - i don't know of anyone who thinks he's a "nutter" or "raving bonkers" - but then i don't trawl the net looking for crazy conspiracies  8- :y

Suzuki is on record as saying [about leaders who do not follow his rabid green crusade]  "What I would challenge you to do is to put a lot of effort into trying to see whether there's a legal way of throwing our so-called leaders into jail because what they're doing is a criminal act."

That makes him bonkers in my view.

I also have a link to a 1972 video with him comparing the human race to maggots, but frankly I haven’t the stomach to put it up here. Mind you, since you apparently believe humanity is a virus, I guess you and he are fellow-travellers.

You seem to think that anyone who questions the climate theories espoused by Gore and his cronies are “in the pay of fossil fuel” companies. Of course there is little mileage in this slur, mainly because most oil companies have long since waded into the green market. There is absolutely no evidence that any skeptical scientist is financially encouraged by a fossil fuel company to tell “lies” as desmogblog would put it.

On the other hand, James Hoggan, who founded the site is a board member of the Suzuki Foundation, while Kevin Grandia, who runs Desmogblog has been “trained” by Al Gore as part of The Climate Project, an initiative designed to educate [misinform] the public about climate change.

You always go on about funding, a point which I find a bit tedious, but since you brought the matter up, desmogblog is financed by John Lefebvre.

Dodgy chap. Don't know if he got off the money-laundering charge or not, but don't care really. I’ll say no more about him.

I am beginning to take offence at the sarcastic tone which both you and Optimist take. You always dodge the scientific issues, probably because you don’t understand them, but you are nevertheless always keen to try belittle my views by accusing me of having “cherry picked” from oddball sites.

I challenge you again: kindly point out where Dr Willie Soon’s scientific views on solar influences are incorrect.

Admittedly this info comes from Clarkson,but.......
Why cant the met office be relied on to predict the weather any more,could it be they are distracted by another agenda.A clue might be found in a list of its senior positions...

Director of climate science
Deputy director of climate science
Climate change advisor
Climate programme organiser
Climate change predictor
Climate mitigator
John Gregory - Fellow of climate change.
Cath senior - job is to understand climate change...............it goes on and on,They are fixated with climate change.They told us this summer was going to be an absolute scorcher.Dont they think that when this doesnt happen that we might not trust their long term climate predictions . ::)

Hmm, not surprising really, Albs. You only need to read about Robert Napier, Chairman of the Board at the Met Office to understand the line it takes:

He is currently, or has been in the past,:

Chairman of the Green Fiscal Commission
Chairman of the trustees of the World Centre of Monitoring of Conservation
Director of the Carbon Disclosure Project
Director of the Carbon Group
Chief executive of the World Wildlife Fund UK

He is also a member of the Green Alliance.

No surprises there, then. ::) ::) ::)
