No probs. with this site, but if I go to the 'other' site, it opens up OK, then I click on the Omega section and IE6 SP2 displays a blank page and reports 'done'.
Running Win XP SP2 Home Ed.
Any ideas anyone...searched the net and can't find a solution.
Sorry if I upset anyone by posting here.

Turn your firewall off, it will work then
Colin

Mine works ok with the firewall on!
-
Works for me - try usual of clearing your browser cache...
-
Moved to general chat, as not relevent to problems with this forum...

I've tried everything, frustrating isn't it?

Have you tried updating from MS website?
Both my Pc's have been recieving (both set on auto update) quite a few updates recently in the last few weeks.
I have Xp Pro SP2 and IE6 Sp2 and the 'other' site works fine for me
As TheBoy says try clearing out the cache plus delete all the cookies
You also could try from cmd prompt....ipconfig /flushdns
HTH
Cheers Dave
PS Post if you still have probs...
-
But then again maybe you've been banned ;D

-
Someone advised me to ditch IE and go to Firefox.
Anyone had any experience with Firefox?

Firefox is fine - running here, as is the wife. Still got IE available for those quirky MS-only sites (there are some around), but in general, Firefox and Thunderbird work a lot better than MS.
-
Firefox is awful, buggy, and insecure. Even compare to IE. If you run alternative operating systems, Firefox may be the best you can get, but under Windows (and this pains me to say it), IE6 is still your best option :(
-
Not sure if the 'the other site' uses Java, but on the odd chance that it does, it worth downloading the latest version from www.java.com.
(AA, I do remember that I suggested this to you on another occasion and it did not help...)
And have you cleared the cache and cookies as TheBoy suggested?
-
Im up early so.....got time for a post or two ;)
Presumably after you cleared the cache and cookies it asked for you to login again?? or rather it logged you in as guest?
Another thing to try is log onto XP as a different user and then try the other site.....will help to try to see if a 'user' profile problem or an IE problem
Cheers

Since XP SP2, I have had problems with certain sites, shutting IE down as soon as I try to log onto them, I have, on the advice of Mark Jay, unistalled Java, and reinstalled it to no avail.
When I came back from holiday, a couple of weeks ago, I could still log onto the 'Other Site', but as soon as I clicked on the Omea section, all I got was a blank page.
I have searched the web for both problems and nothing seems to cure the problem.
-
Just another thought.....your AV software is upto date isnt it?
-
I am having the exact same problems, logged on on my sons p.c thats running firefox with no problem
-

Yes.
-
I’d go with Taxi Driver - create a new user profile on the PC and then see if the problem is related to the Windows installation as a whole (in which case the same problem will occur on the new profile) or is it specific to the profile you were using beforehand (In which case you have a workaround).
-
Been having a good wander round MS technet this afternoon....looking for a solution.
MS do admit that SP2 on XP and on SP2 on IE6....that they have tightened up security and it has been causing issues viewing some web sites.
I tried engineering the possible causes on my pc to see if i could break it viewing web sites or the vxon one in particular......but no matter what i did to try to break it......it wouldnt stop viewing vxon....but however you could check these settings on IE6
Make sure security under Tools/internet options is set to medium
Also make sure privacy is set to medium too.
Under Tools/Manage addons......make sure all the addons are enabled....not just the loaded ones.....select the all addons used from the drop down menu.
Was suppose to be taking me mum to Gatcombe....then found out at last min its next week not this.....so had planned on doing some gardening instead......what i really did was go buy new PC and mess with that and technet all afternoon ;D
Give it a go.....on IE6 settings not gardening! ;D
Hope it helps :)

The 'Other' forum has this problem, it doesn't matter if I use my laptop, desktop or work PC, the pages only half load some of the time.
They've had a thread on it, but nothing seems to be done about it.

Been there done that but still did't work
-
I've already tried everything that's been suggested, to no avail :(
Thanks guys anyway [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

As I posted previously got on the site using my sons pc running firefox,so I just installed firefox on my machine "still no joy!!!" just the same blank page :-?
-
Seems they are aware, and are trying to sort out the problem.
-
i have the same problem but found that the best way around it is to type www.omegaowners.com as the address ;D
-
I found a fix but, dont like using it.
Basicaly I have to disable the firewall in my router......it appears that Hosting Unlimted (cowboys) are doing some strange things with the IP addressing....of course they wont admit that I'm sure but, they must know they changed something!
-
I refuse to disable my Firewall, it's their problem, their loss as far as I'm concerned.
-
I also wont disable mine but, it was part of a learning/exploring exercise on my part.....
-
Hosting Unlimited? Cowboys? Never.... ;D

BTW - how many posts to become a Bridagier (or whatever you call the three-star rank)?
That is, for us mere mortals who do not know any shortcuts to five-stardom like some of us >:(

hey guys can anyone jump on this get your posts up or should we start a new thread... maby i should go and cut that grass after all
-
I also wont disable mine but, it was part of a learning/exploring exercise on my part.....
im a bit mystified as why disabling a firewall is fixing the prob.....maybe its just a fix around the prob...or the firewall is tightened down to much.
Ive 2 pc's running xp pro sp2 ie6 sp2.....both have the firewall turned on in XP.....both are connected to a wireless router, again with firewall turned on......this in turn is connected to an adsl modem.
I get no probs accessing vxon
Heres a snipit from technet on MS site.....you could try this.....if you havent already
Internet Explorer, the Web page is not displayed correctly. The Web page may be blank, or some of the functionality of the Web page may not work as expected. This behavior occurs even though the word "Done" is displayed in the status bar.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, add the WRQ Web site, http://www.wrq.com, to the Trusted Sites zone in Internet Explorer. To do this:1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Under Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings, click Trusted sites, and then click Sites.
5. In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type http://www.wrq.com, and then click Add.
The WRQ Web site is displayed in the Web sites list.
6. Click Close, and then click OK.
Obviously changing the WRQ reference to the vxon web address
Cheers

Tried what you suggested TD...to no avail :(

What firewall do you run on your router.....I have NAT and SPI.....think its the SPI doing it actualy.
-
Norton 2005.
-
I think Mark was referring to switching-off the firewall feature available on some DSL routers, and not to a software product running on your PC such as the Windows XP sp2 firewall or the Norton 2005 firewall (or the ZoneAlarm firewall etc etc...).
-
I use a decent router - Siemens 5830 - with a RIPE block (each pc has a ripe) and decent SPI firewall...
The other site works for me...

Altho its not mentioned in the menus on the router im pretty certain its NAT only.....altho a review site...TOM's says this....
From the trouble that I had running the QCheck UDP streaming tests, however, I'd say that the product is mostly NAT based, but with some SPI going on.
Mines a cheap cheerfull Linksys WRT54G

Is that one of the silver Linksys, or blue and black ones...

Large sigh of relief from here.
I tried to get on earlier but got some error screen.
Thought I had been banned for have this site's http address as my signature.
Long live the OOF.

omegaowners is a censored word on the VxON forum, so unless you modified it somehow, it gets *'d out :(

No, they've updated their server.
