Title: Some consolation!
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 06 October 2009, 13:44:26
Well after the crash on Sunday and my two passengers being hurt, although thank God they are slowly recovering from their whiplash injuries, at least I have the benefit of a good loan car under the terms of my policy;  a virtually brand new (1800 miles) Mercedes E320 CDI Auto saloon to drive around in :D ;) ;).

Lovely car, full leather and all the extras, but all I really want is my lovely Omega back  (alright, they can give it a few weeks if they like! :D :D :D) !! :'( :'( :'( :'(

It is interesting how this Mercedes is considered the equivilant of my 2.5 CDX Auto 8-) 8-) 8-)

Know what you mean Lizzie, while mine was being repaired they gave me a nearly brand new BMW 318d 2.0 M Sport (not M3 unfortunately ::)). Quite how they considered that was the equivalent of a 3.2 MV6 estate I don't know. ::) Mind you, the economy was fantastic - around 55mpg even when driving "enthusiastically"!!

Nice one Lizzie  :y Someone ran into my MGF a couple of years ago and my loan car was a brand new MX5 sport, I didn't want my MGF back but they fixed it. :'(

Oh yes, it is a lovely car to drive and the gear box is superb, with a lovely 'kick' when accelerated only lightly :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-) 8-)

It has certainly made me think again about having a  Mercedes (had a C220D once for just four months), and when the Omega's disappear I may well go for one of these (I'll be able to afford then with any luck!! ::) ::) :D)

It is of course clever hidden marketing Bob as a hire/loan car can persuade you about what to buy in the future ;) ;)

Yeah STMO, I have told them I will have the Merc instead of having my Omega back on the road; you know some form of scrappage scheme, with someone else paying the difference on the price!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

You can imagine their reply!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I blew up the gearbox on a company Golf I had for a few days a couple of years back.
Europcar wanted to give me a Skoda Octavia (no problem there to be honest, fine motor) but when I got to the office they said it hadn't arrived yet. Would I mind waiting and it would be there within half an hour. I said thats no problem, well I was on company time.
The manager of the branch overheard and said that wouldn't be acceptable and I should have the next car they had in stock that was up the scale.
I drove out in a brand spanking new Volvo XC70, the one like an Audi Allroad. Had it a week, bloody lovely motor. (wouldn't have one myself to be honest though, it was nice but not £32,000 nice)

Yeah, right, just remember it's a hire car, so treat it accordingly. (PM me your achievments later)  ::) ::) :y :y

I haven't taken it above 60 yet, and I rather like returning the 35.4 mpg that a magic dial is telling me I have achieved 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Things might very well change however! ::) ::) :D :D ;)

I'd be surprised if you can, mainly because they wouldn't reach 155mph.

Top speed is claimed to be 151 (you can knock a few mph off in real life use), with 204 bhp, 369 ft/lb of torque, and a combined fuel consumption figure of 40.9 mpg.

As it's a new e320 CDI it will have 221 BHP and will do 155  :y
