Ouch, looks nasty. :(
Still, you can't complain about the hire car - very nice. :y

same colour as my Omega that Lizzie :)
I am sorry to say though, that damage looks terminal. Lets face it most Omegas are worth less than 2k, and X/W plates even less :'(
I fear the cost of that repair may class it as a write off :'( :'(
-
As Tunnie says, say your goodbyes now because I don't think you will be see the Omega again Lizzie :'(

That's what I fear Tunnie, but the garage have informed me that they have "received authorisation to repair"!!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
So I am keeping everything crossed!! ;) ;)

When i backed my Omega into a Passat at 10 mph i had zero damage to mine 8-)
But!
On the Passat i took out a light, bumper and wing. The repair bill was over £2.5k :o

Our Miggies are certainly strong cars Tunnie, and in fact the police who witnessed the accident said that when my car was stationery to let their car out of the junction on a trebble 9 call, they saw the chaps Ford Fiesta fail to stop until he hit my rear wing and then his car "bounced" off it backwards!! I reckon he was still doing 30 mph when he hit my rear >:( >:( >:(

Thats probably from the insurance company to say all the paperwork is in order, once the assessor has taken a look i'm sure it will be a different storey :(

Thats good news! Should be no argument from the insurance people with a police witness.
I have had a couple of scrapes in mine, other car always comes off worse. for 30mph impact i bet the Fiesta looked a lot worse ;D

In my opinion, the car will be written off as beyond economic repair. Rear quarter panels, unlike front wings, dont simply unbolt. At the least, bumper, bootlid, light and a hefty tug on a jig to get the worst of the dent out then a couple of stone of filler. A proper repair would be a rear quarter panel.
Also dubious about the quarter panel/rear door gap..... :'(

I agree Ht with all the pessimistic views on this, as I think it is unlikely to be repaired.
However, the garage refused to collect the car until Royal Sun Alliance had given them "authority to repair", something which RSA have confirmed is the case. In addition the other party are accepting full blame and costs due to the circumstances, with even them wanting to make offers of compensation to my injured passengers, so is it possible that they will just repair regardless and give his insurer, Hastings Direct, the bill whatever it is?? :-/ :-/ :-/
I bloody hope so! ;) ;)

Hmmm
Boot bent
New rear quarter panel required
New rear light
New rear bumper
New rear bumber iron
Trims and fittings
Paint
About 2.5K at a guess

A very sad sight indeed Ms Zoom - still it's not over untill they say so, and let's hope they do :-* :-* :y
-
Sorry but I really can't imagine they will repair that.
On a positive note, not many cars out there that will take that sort of hit and the driver walks away unhurt. Good solid Migs.
-
my dad is a assessor and as soon as they recieve autorisation they can carry out the rapairs that means all the work been agreed.
-
Lets hope they repair it. Hopefully the garage will only charge what the car is worth. Which probably ain't very much so that might not work, but lets hope they repair it anyway. :y

Well that is the strange thing. The garage refused to pick up my car on Monday as they had "not received authorization" from Royal Sun Alliance, although they had requested the garage to collect!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
Then, after I chased both the AA and RSA, speaking to the latter direct, they stated "authority to repair" had been given! This was confirmed in those words by the previously reluctant garage when they booked with me a collection time, which was this morning.
So what happens next is anyone's guess!

I had an early 90's civic run into the back of me a while back at about 10-15 mph, completly trashed and written off, and the omega, nothing, not even a scratch ::)

Lizzie, tell them you have no hurry to take the miggy back ;D
seriously sad to see that..
but repairable..
and check the car thoroughly, before you accept it..(ie rear tire geometry, paint matching , abnormal noises etc)
