"Controversial plans to build a new coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth in Kent have been put on hold for up to three years, energy firm E.On has said.
It said it would be delayed until about 2016 because electricity demand had fallen during the global recession."

"Britain faces a return to 1970s-style power blackouts and disruption to its electricity supplies within four years, the energy regulator warned yesterday.
Ofgem raised the spectre of a return to the three-day week for British industry as the country scrambles to renovate its crumbling power infrastructure ahead of new EU pollution rules that will force the closure of a quarter of UK power stations by 2015.
Alistair Buchanan, Ofgem’s chief executive, said: “There could be a potential shortfall in the period 2013-18 ... Life might be pretty cold.”

It would certainly seem that mr bean has lost the plot now and mandy is making his move.
I think Mandy may prop him up until we are past the point of no return with the Lisbon treaty and then pull the rug from under him.They hate each other. ;)

I agree and brown must know this,what a state we are in with a government incapable of any kind of effective management and no meaningful opposition.
