Sorry to hear about you health problems, at least you now know what the problem is.... :y
Pleurisy, is so painful that you would know, got it in my left lung a couple of years ago, had a chest infection anyway and had been to the doctors in the morning, it developed, the pain increased till it was a 999 Job and hospitalised for a couple of weeks. Guess there are different severity's of it ..... :)

You are still twice my weight, oh how I wish I could put weight on..... :( :(

Really sorry to hear that Bert, but chin up mate, diabetes isn't that big a deal nowadays even if it's type 2. Just so long as you follow doctors orders about diet etc. & try and lose a bit more weight (on purpose this time LOL ;D). Let us know how you get on as things develop  :y Kind regards, Phil.

That's upsetting news indeed Bert and must have come as a bit of a shock.

I know several people who have diabeties and I can tell you that it is a serious progressive medical condition, irrespective of what others say.

As LD has already said it's a condition that can be managed  but you have to put effort into this and not depend solely on medication - if any - to keep healthy.

If it has been caught early enough and is Type 2 you may be able to manage by diet and excercise alone, if not you'll be prescribed appropriate medication to keep your blood glucose levels in control.  Failure to keep the levels in the normal range can have serious consequences.

It's in your interest to help yourself as much as the Nurse Practitioner who will be looking after you and I would urge you to take her/his advice to heart.

Please don't fall into the trap of thinking that if you're prescribed medication to manage your condition that it will allow you to continue as before - it won't,  you will have to change you lifestyle to keep on top of your condition.

Whilst you might I'm a bit of a doom merchant it's necessary to make you aware of what's involved in having this condition.

It can be successfully managed if you're sensible and take the medical advice you'll be offered, but it's up to you how easy this will be and how healthy you remain. :y :y

Good luck and I hope you get some good news on Monday.

At least one bit of good news Bert is you won't have to pay for any prescriptions ever again :y.

I'm a type 2 taking tablets to keep it in check and have had no problems yet :), just make sure you get all you checkups done such as eyes and so on and you'll be given a blood checker to monitor your sugar levels ;).

        HTH,
              Pete :).
