Does it work? Assuming its some kind of anti-freeze mixture?

Hmm. Interesting. I too wonder if it's any good. :-/

And whats wrong with leaving the wipers half up and a sheet of cardboard under them then?

Because there arn't any wipers on the side windows ::)

....or the rear screen, heater takes a while.
Would save some time in the morning, but you would need to know in advance to use it, and there for would know it will be frosty in ther a.m. so would know to get up erlier anyway..... :-/
I dont bugger about with de icer and scrapping any more, screen de mist on full, rear screen and mirror heater on, heated seats on and wait, rear window takes longest but i rely on reversing sensers to avoid any rubbish bins when reversing out of the drive.... depends how severe the frost is of course.
But would be interesting to know if it works :y
-
well according to the single review on Halfrauds it does not work, but thats only 1 review.
I was wondering if a home made mixtre would work, cloth drenched in anti-freeze wiped across the windows?
I would only need to do it for 3 days so if it works i would just put it on every night.

Not one single cracked screen in thirty two years.....as soon as the hot water hits the ice ....it cools it enough ......so no problems.
It even worked on the British Leyland crap I owned in the seventies. :y :y :y ;) ;)

Never seen a car crack it's screen although know this is a distinct possibility. What I did see in my motor mechanic days was the laminate plastic in the front screen had melted.
I use luke warm water myself.

I prefer to go out with a scraper, there's no nasty chemicals to knacker my paint work and there's nothing better than a nice cold crisp morning to wake you up. Oh forgot to add I perv at the yummy mummies taking their kids to school as well ;D
-
my garage has a sloped tiled roof and i park as close to the door as possible for security mostly, but also the frost is far less severe when parked close to a building.
Only problem is the tiles have that gravel finish on them, as they do, and the wind blows some of it off onto the car and if frosty it sticks in the ice. Then along i come with a scraper and totally muller the screen, lots of lovely scratches right across it. Plus when scraping or de icing me and my hands get rather cold.
So i sit in the car and wait, bugger it. Doesnt take too long on the screen setting either when the car is parked there.
My neighbour used to use hot water from a kettle, he never had a problem, but didnt fancy it myself.

deicer - 70p for a years supply in tesco. Spray it on, open car and start, turning heaters etc to full and HRW on, get out and scrap. Less than 2mins start to finish.

apart from all the pissing around the night before on something that, if worked, every bugger would have thought of it already ;)

I know its a bit dodgy around your neck of the woods Jaime, I couldn't be putting up with that every morning ;D ;D

My daily orders are written down on scrap of paper - Mrs TB knows better than to tell me anything before 10am...

Our lass's Elite takes 3-5 minutes to defrost most mornings, just by letting the engine run, cc on auto. (Hope this method works for my MV6 warms up as well).
Letting the engine tick over for a few minutes also helps get the oil up to temp on a cold day before you go thrashing about on the ice and snow.
The boiling water trick - I did it to a Viva years ago, but it didn't so much crack the screen as smash it to bits!
Only made of toughened glass, not laminated!! :-[
I have used warm water from the tap to good effect though.

You were obviously born after basic physics was dropped from the school curriculum.

I put a cover over SWMBO's car when she comes home from work. Next morning she takes it off and throws it on the ground, covered in frost, and when she comes home the fairies have made it all dry and ready to go on again. :( ;D

If the Omega is too frosted I just put a skiing jacket on and take the Westfield out of the garage. :y

I find that putting the car in the garage the night before does the same thing. I come down the following morning and the windows are clear.
No chemicals involved, well not until I have parked up for the night. Hic.
