I still haven't got to the bottom of my other computer problem (for now I am not turning my computer off) but now have another more pressing problem......
When I try to load some pages on the web I get an error message saying that the page cannot be found. It only happens with certain sites but (and this is the strange part) if I continue trying it always loads on he 12th attempt.
Any ideas??? :-/ :-/ :-/

Knackered DNS. Hijacked browser. Could be a number of things really
-
yep..in addition to above could also be a high traffic website, donald explorer ;D or some extra hardware interrupting network card (ie like tv cards with extra networking)
-
one way to see the dns problem can be ping the www adress take the ip number and from explorer go directly with ip ..
or use some different dns numbers like free dns..
-
You can get free dns here:-
http://www.opendns.com/ or
http://208.69.38.150/
From there it will tell you how to change your dns settings

is it the same with IE and Firefox?
run spybot and adaware (separately) to see if you have been hijacked :y
