Title: Category D - How much does it devalue
Post by: Markie on 09 March 2007, 11:20:27
I know that category D is light damage and that it doesnt need a vic.

But how much does the "car industry" expect it to devalue the resale value by? ( % wise )  :-/

Looking at a very light panel damaged car as a project but need to know of the resale value.

Does anyone haev access to Glass's etc for this info ( as a pecentage devaluation)

First of all has the vehicle been registered as a cat D. If it has then before you get insurance for it you will have to get an engineer's report on the repaired vehicle. This costs about £60 + vat.

The trade values the repaired vehicle 25% less than retail. If not repaired properly value is reduced further. :'(

cat D mate - it does not require any additional checks. Cat C does require VIC - vehicle inspection check from DOT.

But not on a cat d  :y

I stand corrected. The value would or could be up to 25% off retail. Depends on what was repaired or replaced. :y

humm not sure on that, I reckon it could be expensive to fix. Have you got any idea on repair costs?

yep
panels priced, respray costs priced ( have a mate at work who has agreement with his brother to do it - and he has a bodyshop  :y)

Theres potentially at that price about £700 in it still.

But its got a short mot, no stereo no history and due a cambelt change.

I stopped bidding at £700

How much to spray a bumper (off the car)? I fancy getting my BMW's done as it's chipped to the point the lacquer is suffering - too much triple figure driving :(
