I removed and refitted a Renault 5 turbo engine once (about 12 yrs ago) and it was the most difficult engine swap I have ever done, mainly due to the limited access and zillion jublilee clips!

A proper Renault 5 turbo and not that rather awful GT Turbo!

I loved all the mid engined rally cars arround that time, when the banned the high power stuff I stopped following the rallying.

Plus I loved the Manta/Ascona 400's, lancia rally, 6R4 S2 Quatro, they were all cracking cars

Seen this at very close quarters (used to do recovery at Rallycross at Lydden and Brands)it was awesome.

That's the one I'd have, no doubt in my mind at all!  :y

I nearly bought a kit car replica of one once! but then decided it was too much work and money!

At one of our crash recovery stints at Lydden hill with a hiab lorry,we had to pick both of these up.
Will gollops 6R4 and Gary Bakers RS200.tHE RS200 was leaking petrol all over the back of the lorry and spectators with lit ciggy,s were trying to get close up to have a good look.It got a bit worrying.

I can remember my first job in a garage as an aprentice. ( 24 years ago ) I had to put the engine back in a Renault 5, it went in but was the wrong way round, No one told me that the gearbox was at the front,  :-/
