my son has brought his playstation back. so...
i have a laptop with a broadband dongle for my internet. how do i make a connection with it to his playstaion so he can go online and play the game with his mates??

i don't understand why everyone is going the dongle route, for home use get a land line. All these dongles are crippling already busy mobile networks!
Anyway rant over - You need to share your internet connection, in the PS3 settings you will need to enter the details of your laptop.
It would be much easier if you had a fixed line with a wireless router.

I think yoy will find that the dongle will not be fast enough to play games on line with the PS3

depends on what kind of speeds you get, if its a stable 3G connection then it should be ok, as long as your not doing any other data transfer.
If you can only get GRPS speeds then forget it.

Even if you do get decent 3G connection speeds, it still ain't gonna be fast enough for the PS3.
Technical problems aside though, all you need to do is set your laptop up as a proxy in order for the PS3 to get net access.

Windows lappy will probably need to have ICS configured.
But, as mentioned, the Latency across mobile network will make it unusable. Additionally, the hidden proxies in the mobile networks will make it unreliable

i had the full works before but was only home for 2 days a month so cancelled it. i am thinkingof going the same route as before but i dont really use itenough for a broadband connectio. allmadvise welcoime :) :)

totally agree - i've got my ps3 hooked up to a homehub wireless router - easy to set up and works perfectly :y
