Going self-employed again pretty soon doing plumbing/bathroom fitting, and property maintainence.Anyone got any ideas where to source some work from to get started,as i am running out of ideas?. :-/

As well as the above, advertising!

I work in property and spent years in property sales and lettings. That is a good route to look into BUT if you want to make sure you get the work, have a quite word with the lettings manager and offer him a 10% cut of any work you get from him/his landlords. Immoral? probably, but I know what letting agents are like and they are worse than estate agents!!!!

That's called business, nothing immoral about it at all.

If a letting agent is involved, then they are the landlord in law.

As soon as we get a van,it will be sign written, which reminds me,does anyone know anyone locally who does it cheap,or better still anyone on here. :y

Small ad in the local free press every week, people will remember you, good rates till you get established and word of mouth will pull you the work in. :y
-
What you need is a Lovely Silver Renault Trafic van on a 54 plate ::) ;)

Don't bother with Yellow Pages, at least not until you are up & running (very expensive). The local press is a good 1st stop, also print up some fliers/leaflets, offer an introductory price for certain jobs and enrol friends, family to pop them through letterboxes in your work area. Good luck with it mate, been there, done that, made a mint, buggered my spine in the process! ;D :y

Thanks phil, did do it in 2006-2007,but never worked really due to lack of work, but to be fair we was lazy getting the work in after a contractor asked us to stay with him,and then he went bump, which in turn left us with nothing. :-/

I can recommend a company for signs, however they are not the cheapest and they are based in Sheffield. Having said that, they have been running for years, done loads of big work and have a cracking reputation.
Won't mention name on here, but PM if its something you are interested in.

I wasn't suggesting you drink, but an e-mail is never going to let the agent know just how beneficial it could be to both parties if you are the one doing the work ;)
