Details to follow on that very shortly ::) ;)

Pah! I thought you had ring problems?
Where's your fail for "emits excessive dense blue or clearly visible black smoke during acceleration which would obscure the view of other road users" ? ;)

£55 isn't expensive for a pass

Agreed. Since they are computerised they now have to spend the allotted time on the test, without rectifying faults, answering the phone or working on other cars, which means my local tester has at least 20 mins to kill kicking tyres with me and smoking tabs when he's finished testing the Westfield, before the system will allow him to enter a pass / fail.
When you look at garage labour rates, and the amount of time VOSA force them to waste trying to establish a connection with a dial-up modem, if it's offered cheaper you start wondering what they'll fail it on to claw back the labour they've lost doing the test. :-?

Even worse when it's a bike Kev.
My custom built XJ9 can easily be tested in 15 minutes flat, which means the tester & myself spend another 25-30 mins drinking tea, eating cream cakes, and discussing the next bike show.

Unless people are missing vital brain cells (although it would appear a lot are), common bloody sense tells you your vehicle is going to fail before you have even driven it in to that £29 MOT test (especially when the RRP is £54).
