could be a cheap way to get more power for my four pot meega. Although it's an auto the engine should be a direct replacement for the 2.0. Right?

Erm not quite...
Wiring loom would be the biggest headache with different connectors.
Then there is the the little matter this has an electronic throttle control (fly by wire) and the 2.0 has a normal cable.
There are probably other things I haven't thought of too.
In short, if you want more power, get a V6 and make the work worthwhile! ;)

I've already got a v6 but I'm finding it hard to let go of the 2.0 as it just feels so much more nimble than the mv6. Prolly got something to do with the stiffened lowered suspension, lsd and decat pipe/k&n setup the 2.0 has, but I'm working on doing something about that.

It would be much easier to fit a 2.5 or 3.0.....

Surely you could just use the block and head, and fit your old manifold and Engine management loom?
Although, Dave's right, never worth it for 200cc gain, get a V6 ;D

I have spent a lot of time and not a lot of money making a track car/ play thing and it drives superbly. It just needs a bit more power. I am not convinced that fitting a large lump of cast iron in the shape of a v6 is going to have many benefits. A 2.2 bottom end with a red top head and a set of bike carbs seems a better option. I tend to shy away from doing things the easy way.

Actually the V6 is an alloy block. ;)
Power to weight return would be better with the V6.

1) You could port and fit hot cams.
2) You could fit the older 16V with 150bhp (1 may be cheaper)
3) Fit the turbo 2.0

I thought it was cast iron. The one here looks iron judging by the rust.

I thought it was a cast iron block, alloy heads.... ....but could be wrong.

When i had the box off the mv6 it certainly looked like a brown cast iron block.

Yes, a quick check later and it is indeed a cast iron block (albeit a better one than the 2.2 ;)) so apologies, I really thought it was an alloy lump. Shame on me! :-[

It is a cast iron block.....but its not a heavy engine......
The 2.2 with bike carbs would be an interesting little project.....

It's an alloy of iron and metallic oxygen, like the rest of the car. :P ;D ;D
