After years of having the occasional coal (well smokeless) fire, I've finally managed to keep a fire in overnight and and now watching it slowly but surely come back to life.
Althoug the speed of embers to satisfaction in 20 mins is a bit slower than an Omega, the price of solid fuel these days seem to put the cost of having a coal fire on a par with fueling an Omega.
Most satisfying :)

Theres been a massive increase in the interest in solid fuel fires lately. If you can find a free supply of timber you can save a few bob on heating costs. Keep the greens happy as well being carbon neutral ::). Also you can't beat sitting in front of a real fire when its cold, wet and windy outside. :y
