Title: Nokia PC Suite problems
Post by: Nickbat on 26 October 2009, 17:10:23
Nokia sent me a text the other day to say I could upgrade the software on my 6120 Classic. I won't bore you with all the details, suffice to say that my newly-downloaded Nokia PC Suite software refuses to play ball. With a WinXP Bluetooth connection, it finds the phone but refuse to have any dealings with it as it "needs to be authorised". Huh?  :-? :-?

I've tried looking round the web for a work-round, but to no avail. Any ideas?

if using bluetooth, you need a key which is used between the two.

You need to pair them and use a code, say 0000

I've paired the PC and phone, Tunnie, but it still says my phone "needs to be authorised" and if I click next it says my "phone cannot be authenticated."

Cem, if all else fails I'll go back to the original PC Suite software and try again, as you suggest.  :y

Try and isolate and see if its a problem with bluetooth. (ie try with the cable)

if it still does not work its software...

ive had that before....a long time ago...

open device manager, uninstall bluetooth, reboot.

windows should refind bluetooth, and then authenticate iirc.

No, Tunnie, it doesn't work. It has the same problem as yesterday.

PC Suite tells me to connect USB to phone and PC.

XP finds new hardware.

XP tries to install "generic phone", comes up with Nokia 6129 Classic, then aborts the process as "The required section was not found in the INF".

Getting bored of it now. Need to make my dinner. ;)

Success! Thanks, Tunnie & Cem!  :y

Scrapped the new PC Suite Software, cleaned the registry, reloaded the Suite version that came with the phone and all is well. Updated the phone as well (which is the reason I started playing with it in the first place!).

Job's a good 'un.  :y :y
