Title: got engaged
Post by: mathewst on 27 October 2009, 11:52:55
Well I decided to take a big step.
Got engaged on Saturday evening.
We were on a friends' weding and I proposed to my girlfriend during the first dance
The only problem was I had three wedings this month, had to replace shocks on the mig and in the end had to buy an engagement ring.
I'll probably have to start selling my own organs to get back on my feet :D

Thanks guys.
The actuall ceremony will be in about one year, so enough time for me to mourn the day to come ;D
It is actually pretty dificult to find a suitable weeding hall, they are all booked well in advance, so at least I have one more year of freedom :D

Well done.

Is it usual practice over there to spend about a months salary on a ring?

I did that 27 years ago and the Mrs lost it within 6 months of us getting married  :o

Well after engagement my girlfriends sisters husband told me a joke.
Father and son were walking, they saw a donkey and the son asks...
Dad what is that?
Dad says...
That is a donkey.
Then they see a female donkey..
And son asks...
Dad what is that?
Dad says....
That is donkeys wife!
Then they see a small donkey and son asks...
Dad what is that?
Dad says that is their son,  a small donkey.
Son asks...
Does he have a wife?
Dad answers....
NO only BIG donkeys get married!!!

Congratulations mate  :y :y

Here's a thought:

Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother, Why is the bride dressed in white?

Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life.

The child thought about this for a moment, then said, So why is the groom wearing black?

Well I'll definitely have to save for the weeding and save a lot.
Once me and my girlfriend were talking about weeding and she said she didn't want a big weeding.
Knowing where she was from I said "Okay Darling how big weeding do you want?"
And she said....
"Oh about 200-250 guests! MY guests, not including yours!!! " :D

Enfield my girlfriend lives in another country so it will be a nightmare to organise everything.
Actually I'll just let her organize everything and just show up  ;D since she said resolutely THAT HTE WEEDING WILL BE IN HER TOWN.

I might be wrong -- but isn't it traditional for the wedding to be in the Bride's parish ?

Over here Mat the bride and her mother  ::) make all the arrangements the groom only gets involved when there is a bill to pay or to get the blame when something goes wrong --- this is the traditional training to prepare for marrried life !!!!!

Yep it is the same overhere.
Groom is needed only when money is needed and when somebody must take the blame ;D
