No evidence, no proof.

"I worry a lot that NGOs [non=governmental organisations] are very much in the habit of doing exactly that"

In other words anyone that isn't associated with the government isn't on board, why's that then? ::)

“I worry a lot that NGOs are very much in the habit of doing exactly that [misleadingly presenting possible scenarios about future warming as fact],” said Professor Sir David King.

Oh, you mean THIS David King?

“Antarctica is likely to be the world’s only habitable continent by the end of this century if global warming remains unchecked, the government’s chief scientist, Professor Sir David King said last week. He said the Earth was entering the ‘first hot period’ for 60 million years when there was no ice on the planet and “the rest of the globe could not sustain human life”.

(The Independent on Sunday, 2 May 2004)

Plonker.  Actually, make that a hypocritical plonker. >:(

Facts, BJ? Don't be silly, they make it up as they go along.

Explorers: North Pole summers ice free in 10 years

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gTIPEPUFPfv4_rMVSHnn6Klx-XYwD9BB5G5O0

Widely hyped on the news.

15 October 2009
Met Office Press Release
…first ice-free summer expected to occur between 2060 and 2080

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pressoffice/2009/pr20091015b.html

Not widely hyped
in the news.  ::) ::)

Oh, and it also states in the Met Office Press Release:

"The observed temporary recovery from the 2007 minimum in 2008 and 2009 indicates that the Arctic ice has not yet reached a tipping point, if such exists."

What's that? If such a tipping point exists? You mean the science isn't settled?

Plonkers.

;) ;D ;D ;D

i think the article is highlighting that by scaremongering it clouds the reasoned rational scientific arguments which does neither side any favours, and actually allows the sceptics to quote these exaggerations and point to them as proof that its all a lot of hot air.

we should just stick to the facts, this issue doesn't need anymore hype  :y

Whatever the truth or fiction and whatever changes the earth is going through ( for whatever reasons) we should be concentrating our efforts on adapting -- not trying to force change on nature (which has a habit of kicking back).

Climate change has happened before and will do so again, whenever it wants. It has b. all to do with "man".

I assume the Ice Age was caused by too many flatulent dinosaurs  ::)

I agree 100%  :y

Looking back at the last 40 years alone, we have had nothing but consistency as far as weather is concerned (10 year cycle where it goes from baking summers to crap summers, and the process repeats).
