I wonder if thats why the Colonel's Secret Recipe of 11 Herbs and Spices always plays havoc with my digestive system, only couteractable by fried eggs to bind me back up ;D

That aside, to be honest, most restuarants are disgusting.  It was an eye opener when I used to fix phones, I'd go in the kitchens of supposedly posh resturants and hotels, and would never, ever eat there again.  Curry houses/chinese etc are often similar.

Sadly, and bizarrely enough, it did seem the likes of McDonalds, BK, KFC, Wimpey - all the fast food burger crap places - had the cleanest kitchens and highest hygene standards.  Shame the food is plastic.

Agreed...........I try to avoid eating out .....if posssible. :( :(
Many years ago.............a friend of mine worked in the kitchen of a major restaurant chain.
He told me .....that as the empty plates came back  to the  kitchen........the staff would have to scrape off all the "half eaten". :( :( :(...vegetables.....potato....peas...carrots....etc..etc....into a giant tupperware container....
this "spittle covered ".....veg.....would then be used to make the "Soup of the day".....the following morning.
Common practice .......I have been reliably informed. :-? :-? :-?

He also told me.............if a vegetable comes back "whole"..... it would go out again....for the next lucky customer..... >:( >:( >:( >:(

As I sat waiting for my dinner one evening in Taipei a couple of years ago, a Cockroach calmly walked across the table, over my plate & dissapeared!
When it arrived, the meal was excellent BTW, not even crunchy!

A lot of them tend to be franchised these days, so cleanliness, etc is down solely to the proprietor of the outlet.

An Ex of mine used to work for one of Ronald's branches an apparently they had an inspection cover that would pop up and issue sewage onto the kitchen floor at regular intervals.  :o

I can say with some authority that the "back of house" conditions at a well-known upmarket pizza restaurant chain are very tightly managed and regularly inspected, not just by Council Inspectors, but also by company inspectors who turn up unannounced. I would happily eat at any of their branches. (Clue = dough balls). ;)

Yep, this is "Name that Restaurant" and I'm your host.
 ;) ;D

OK, Steve, you've had one clue. Here's the next one. The first restaurant in this chain was opened in London in 1965.

why are these "dirty" restaurants allowedto continue trading and potentially poisoning people - instead of fining them they should close them down if the conditions are so bad

Yup - we tend to only have such stuff if we're travelling somewhere, and need to pick up grub fast. So it has a place, but not a place I'd look forward to visiting.

Bit like a kebab whilst walking home on a friday night ;D

Kebabs are only eaten while drunk.

Mind you chicken kebab meat tastes nice from th elocal chippie but you do worry about what was in it (pretty sure it is chicken - but like one bad takeaway - died of old age)

Not entirely 100% true. I'm sure a few of us have made it home with one, fallen asleep, woken up several hours later with a real bad case of the munchies........
