Title: Holly Dog
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 29 October 2009, 17:45:02
Thought id let peeps know.....who knows her...

She got knocked down monday night by a car, when she dashed across a main road (chasing a cat i think).....my fault, didnt have her on a lead, but we were about 100yrds from the road, i didnt think she would go that far  :-[

Thankfully she didnt break any bones, but she was cut badly in several places (one major cut that needed operating on and 6 smaller ones that needed stiching)

She's back home tonight, feeling sorry for herself....but on the mend....

Dont think she's impressed about having to wear a light shade.....but i took it off earlier and she wouldnt stop licking her wounds....so i had to put it back on.

Just about to give a plate of chicken to try to cheer her up....

Bad news that she got hit -- but good news that she is on the mend  :y

I remember when my last dog (swore never to get another when she died!) ran out into the road once. She turned around to find herself facing a Land Rover bearing down on her and just cowered down .... as it happened the car passed over her, leaving an oil smear down her back. She was bowled around a bit, but otherwise unhurt once the shock had worn off!  Funnily enough she never ran into the road again after that !

Good news she wasn't badly hurt :y

Now we leave you in charge of the official OOF dog, and this is how you treat her? Tut tut.  To reprive yourself, Mr TD, she demands a nice bit of steak for supper!

She's definatley improving......altho shaved down most of one side.....she's bored (only allowed outside for the loo, vets orders) and hates the lamp shade....

Took her today, lunchtime over to my parents who have a black lab as well (shes 12) to try to cheer her up.....think it worked, Holly was happy to see my parents.. altho their lab....took one look at her and didnt want to know her....hmmm...doggy instint know theres summat amiss???

Ive had to resort to covering her tablets (3 a day) in butter.....else she wont swallow them....

Might give that a go....

ive tried wrapping em in bacon/ham.....she eats the bacon/ham and then spits the tab out .....

Even if i shove the tab down her neck......and hold her mouth shut.....she wont swallow....and spits it back when let her go.....

Used to get my old dog's meds down her throat by sticking them in little lumps of cheese. It did help that she was addicted to cheese  ::)
