I've had a good look at the usual suspects and cant see anything untoward. The only thing that concerns me slightly is a .......dont know how to describe this....a small 'clunk or click' through the steering wheel when returning to centre from a left or right turn. It actually feels like its coming from the steering wheel and not being fed up from the steering/suspension.
-
Good luck and dont worry about it!!
Wifes veccy went for an mot on Friday - its on 92k with a clunk from front right over potholes and oil all the way up its shock on the same side.
It failed its mot - on a rear tyre and got no advisorys :)
So every little noise or imperfection may not mean £`ssss
-
Cheers Markie. I never worry mate, no point. It will pass or fail, I'll still love it :-[
-
and oil all the way up its shock on the same side.
Im amazed that passed :o
Leaking shock is usually a fail......ive had cars with leakng shocks that have failed for that reason
But good luck STMO123....sure you wont need it tho :y
-
Thanks TD

Me too - so much so i had enquired about availability of parts in stock with at vx so i could pick them up to change them.
Still going to do them soon.

Good luck :y

Good luck with the MOT.
Cliky clunky type thing could that be the little bush at the top of the steering coloumn.
-
If it is a bush in the steering column, then it may fail on it.
My old Cavalier had a knocking steering column and it failed on it, amongst the other 8 serious faults :-?
You're probably just worrying too much though, I tend to be more aware of faults after driving a car for a while that other people don't notice.

I've had a phone call from the garage. It needs:
Rear spring (Having both replaced)
Track rod end
Discs and pads front
Also serviced
Anyone care to hazard a guess at the cost?

Go on :-/

Jesus, surely it needn't be that expensive, discs and pads are what, 60-90 all in? Track rod end shouldn't be much, and 2 springs shouldn't be that awful either... :(
-
Just looked at an old invoice. Even independents charge £60 an hour now. MOT £55, service £120, its not far off.

Ah, I didn't take the mot and service into consideration.. Pity you can't do the other bits yourself would save some wonga..

What, and get my hands dirty? Or, even worse, break a fingernail :-?

Think you had better arrange a rear spring party ::)

Ouch :o

Bit like locking the stable door after.........................
-
I'm only pretending to be sad really. Omegas go wrong and, unless you're handy with spanners, cost a lot to put right. It's all part of the joy ;D :y

Rear springs are easy enough.
Espcially if you have a rusty old Senator, and don't put all the bolts back in. Ain't that right Tunnie ;)
-
Picked it up this afternoon. £635 with an advisory on my exhaust. Haven't felt quite enough pain yet to be a proper omega owner, so I think I'll go for a genuine Vx full system, or perhaps a rather expensive stainless steel jobbie. Burble, burble ;D ;D
-
It just shows you how much prices vary. My MOT last Fri, was only £40 :y

Mine was £45 this morning - 'Trade Price' .... I've been taking mine & hers there for MOT for years - for the Astra shed. It failed :( The fail sheet, VT30, ran to 2 pages ;D 8 fail points although a broken hand brake cable (£7.50) accounted for 4 of 'em.

Next year you need to look for a garage that just does MOT's ie they don't do any repair work. Or find out where the local taxis go for their test. The place I take my car to couldn't give a fig if it passes or fails cos they won't make money if it fails cos they don't do repair work.
£620? I don't know whether I'd have laughed or cried if I'd been presented with a bill like that! :-/
-
Last years MOT cost me a favour, I love having a mate with his own MOT station.
-
It's worth every penny. Even amongst the newer cars in there it still looked great :y

I'd pay the same every year.
PS Read my signature. It was there before today ;)

Im surprised it passed at all with that concrete post sticking out of the sunroof - does it not obscure your vision??? ;D
-
Concrete post? Oh, the aftermarket phone aerial ::)
-
And here's the omega I use for work ::)

Here's my works car - I didn't get to choose the colour though. I think your Star Silver is better. :y

That's very true, but I'm not a builder like you - I'm an International Playboy by trade and it's great for pulling the birds. ;D
