Heard GB today saying that the UK would not desert it's duties in Afghanistan. Shouldn't he really be saying that the UK government would not desert............
This government in general, and this prime minister in particular, stopped representing the views of the people of the UK a long time ago.

...which is why he should not have the power to behave as he has, which in the autocratic style adopted by both himself and Blair, seems to be more presidential in nature.

By dint of the legal processes within which we currently have to work, he (and others) are and have been there already though....

...It doesn't sit at all well with me H. There seems little will or inclination within Cabinet to question some of the decisions that have been made. Whether that's down to incompetence, indifference or fear I don't know.
It appears to me however that GB's leadership, if you could call it that, depends on a cabal of individuals who carry out his wishes in any form to achieve the desired result.
This type of crass, single-minded and short-sighted behaviour has landed this country not only in two un-winnable wars, but also in financial turmoil and social breakdown.
I think it's a good idea therefore that we do have a say in who leads the country as there must be some form of sanction available to us when things go so wrong, short of a general election.

....add to this "self-serving" and you will have summed up the Cabinet very well .... and explained why the country is in the sh1t it's in!
