Sorry to hear, company I work for is in a pretty dire state at the moment so can't see us lasting much longer. :'(
 So, what next......full time Omega/train technician? ::)

Sorry to hear that Mark.

I hope it's not all the strikes and rumours of strikes from the great UK that's got them on the run. ::)

I've barely had any work in the last 12 months.  The last thing I need is more talent flooding the queues!

Aw, crap. Sorry to hear your news Mark. Out of the blue as well, going by the article?

Hopefully though, you will have time to look around by the summer, if i read it correctly?

Brings it home how lucky we have been here. Our trade being seasonal is only just coming to the crunch period. But even so, we are all being very well behaved. Even me, mostly. :-)

As said, just shout. :-)

Fairly out of the blue, I did have a few hints last week.

Going to screw the optical portfolio for the company (both DWDM and L2)

Sorry to hear your news Mark  :'(

The shortsighted method of generating growth in the last 3 or 4 years (by slashing costs with a short term view) rather than generating true growth does seem to be common across many large companies now.

Really sorry to hear this Mark. It would be easy to say a man of your talents will have no trouble finding work, and that's probably true. But it's still a kick in the 'dangle berries' and I hope it works out for you.

Best of luck when you start your job hunt!  ;)
As said though, I'm sure a man of your talents & calibre should be sorted sooner rather tha later.  :y  :y  :y

Thankfuly I have a few strings to my bow and enough qualifications, experience and a wide enough network to get work elsewhere.

I intend to get the redundancy and shares etc though!

I will have to splash out on a 1 week course to get full Prince 2 accreditation (I have Props) to better match the uk job market but, thats no great issue.

Have been for years...I have Props qualifications (plus the usual MS Project etc) but, that is an international development standard and not the more basic UK one.

Can you get a job as a PM at my old company - I'm fed up with banging my head against a brick wall due to woefully, unbelievably bad PMs there ;D

Joking aside, sounds like you should be able to get yourself sorted - probably a good thing you've been dragged into an office tosser PM role, as I fear your technical specialities around transmission are probably, err, a bit too specialist to easily find other work?

Sorry to hear your news Mark.  This is another blow for Coventry, too  :(

It is so tough out there-so many people I know have had the same happen, my brother, friends and colleagues.
I hope that they give a good severance package and that you find work soon-sometimes an enforced life laundry can be beneficial in the long term, but the short term sucks.

Best of luck-you have a lot of respect and support on here  :y

The funny thing is that we have a new purpose built site which was funded by Advantage West Midlands, visited by Gordon Brown.....and its announced that it will close less than 6 months after moving in  ;D

So guys and girls, the tax payer loses out again

Smells decidedly fishy. Something in it for someone, by the sound of it???
