Seriously though, I don't know anybody who would pay £20 for anything when they can have it for nowt.

Every day of the week one of our basic rights are removed, but even under this nanny state it still ISN'T illegal to TALK about certain subjects.

So my question is this......why do OOF remove/censor certain posts that are not breaking any laws?

By all means talk.

Simply do not post links or how to do what is obviously done in many places many times a day to legit software.

But not here.....

Bit of a contradiction there old bean.

Talking about something illegal is not illegal in itself, telling somebody how to do something illegal is not illegal itself.

The only thing that is illegal is providing the means for another to break the law.

Quite simple a few forums have been closed or people prosecuted for things as simple as this.

It is literally protecting the forums collective bottom.

Not in the mood for word games, old bean...

Check the forum guidelines.

No discussion of acquiring or distributing copyrighted material.  If you legally own/licenced the material, thats fine

Therefore, 'The only thing that is illegal is providing the means for another to break the law' and so, OOF will not provide that means.

Thanks for your understanding.

Dude...

You don't get nicked for that crap unless they burst through your front door while you have that 16 disc DVD burner running at full tilt, and you are queueing up that 8TB of other crap that your group is about to release.

There are plenty of forums that allow open discussion of just about anything (including piracy, hacking cable TV, etc), and they don't even get so much as the first pi$$ant £25 solicitors letter.

I can understand OOF being cautious, bit I think they go a bit too far.

I have NEVER told anyone here how to get/acquire copyrighted material.

I admit I have openly told others here how easy it is to do certain things, but I have never divulged how to find the necessary files to see the job through....nor even a clue of where to start looking.

So........going on what you said above.....those posts I made didn't breach OOF T&C, so why were they removed?

You're right, its not illegal. Nor is excessive swearing. Or being abusive to other people. But we try to prevent that happening.

Its the clearly defined rules. Its a simple request we ask you, and everybody else, to try to obey.

We've had this discussion many, many times. I, for one, am finding it a bit too tedious.  These are the rules we expect all members to obey. I doubt I'll repeat myself again.
