Title: 50 year old Elite?
Post by: Amigo on 10 November 2009, 22:37:22
Even i would'nt pay this much & dislike the colour but back in the day this would've been the one to have.

the offside rear lower quarter has been played with & the door bottoms look odd, but i must admit i wouldnt mind one of those :P

Looks good from a distance I reckon.
On closer inspection needs loads of work to worth £4k

It would be great to drop a 3,0 in there. looks like theres enough space. not to sure if the stearing could handel it though and you would need a new speedo.

I had one of those in two-tone blue back in the early seventies.

It was a pig to start (single downdraught carb with automatic choke if I recall) and getting the head off involved sawing the studs there was so much hermatite on it.

Still you could climb in alongside the engine to work on it!  Not so the Omega.

Ah - A Batmobile!
We put a 3.3 Ventura engine in one in the late 60s, it got 50 yards & tore the differential off the car! :'(

For an early '60's VX it's a wonder it still holds together :D The quality of the steel used then was sh*te ;D As already mentioned, the bodging has been very poorly done and the colour is putrid  but it's nice to see the old girl still strutting her stuff ;D :y
